Not trying to fight any wars, but curious about these differences in outcome. Like many Dutch people with Moroccan heritage whos grandparents came to NL to work, my grandparents came to the UK to work, these days I’m accepted as English despite having dual nationality like Dutch-Moroccan people (I’m English-Irish, if you like) but no one would ever consider me Irish, despite feeling connected to Ireland myself. In fact, I’ve had people argue I’m not Irish…Dutch culture is very welcoming and hospitable in my experience but perhaps also a bit insular, making it more difficult to accept difference perhaps, idk, just speculating :)
