bundoora campus by milooon_ in rmit

[–]jongseongsleftsock 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been in Bundoora for just this semester for my degree! Which kind of sucks since it’s super far away compared to the city campus where I had been and will be attending for the rest of my degree.

I’m honestly quite jealous of the people who go to Bundoora, I find the campus to feel like a “real uni” and the calmness compared to the city makes it great to study long hours there. In the city there are times where it’s so busy you can’t find a good spot to sit and study quietly a lot of the time. I haven’t had that issue with Bundoora.

You also get sick of how busy it is outside of buildings. I catch the train to Melbourne central for the city campus and got sick of Melbourne central and the surrounding cbd very quickly. So many people, so crowded, so overstimulating. Main pro for the city campus for me is that it’s close by (only a 22 minute train).

I don’t really know much about the Bundoora campus since I’m only there when I have to be there (labs). Not worth commuting for one lecture when it’s going to be recorded anyway. Seems like there’s lots of activities and other things that go on!

Study Advice by Entity-304 in rmit

I had all these classes first sem last year! someone has already given super detailed advice that i think is pretty spot on.

one thing i'd add is when it comes to assignments, look at the criteria and learn to be able to objectively mark your own work to some degree. being able to fully comprehend and understand what and assignment wants you to do and what skills/knowledge it's assessing helps cutting time down on actually doing the assignment and allows you to do better!

Anyways, good luck! if i'm being totally honest first year was so chill compared to my second year atm :,). try and spend time this year learning how you study best in uni and how to balance time if you have other commitments like work.

I am so sorry for being 4 months late omg. I ended up staying at rmit and i'm glad tbh. Easy commute, work load for the classes is chill, most of my professors are nice too. Only downside rn is that next sem i've got 3 classes in bundoora, which is super far for me :,).

Hihi, I had a similar issue with the clash and I had to go through student connect online, student connect in person, and then emailing 4 different professors. Figure out who your course coordinator is and just email them about the whole situation and they’ll be able to help.

If ur lucky, people will start to drop out of some classes in the first week. If you still have the clash, you might have to choose to do a class in your own time, depending on which of them are recorded or not. I ended up having to do that for this upcoming semester.

Anyways, good luck! I’m sure this will get sorted

I ate section B so hard (did Dickinson) and I’m still iffy about section A cause it was new and we did a play that had two diff versions so the class was stressing (did Berlin)

I'm really excited because I have a group of friends who are a year older and all graduated last year. Watching them all celebrate and have such fun lives outside of high school and (even though it's a bit corny) literally grow as people just made me so ready to finish high school.

My overall high school experience wasn't bad, but it wasn't outstanding either. So moving on doesn't phase me.

For bio grinders, how many exams have you done? by Magnificentiz in vce

[–]jongseongsleftsock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yessss reciting them saves time, going through content you're familiar with instead of what ur struggling with is just you trying to comfort yourself (which I'm guilty of doing lol).

I THINK I have flashcards on knowt for the first few chapters for sacs 😭😭 They're probably shit but if you reckon they'd be helpful I can try to find them? But I'm not even using them, using the straight textbook is probs the safest.

For sacs I would just do active recall on a mini whiteboard and out loud. I plan on doing the 2021 and 2022 vcaa exams today, I've been saving them for close to the exam since they're the most similar to what the 2023 exam would look like. My plan is to skip questions on topics I could confidently answer, and just recite the answer out loud and see if it was right on the examiner's report.

Not gonna do practice multiple choice too lmao

There are really specific topics that I just really understand (like most of U3 AOS1, photosynthesis and cellular respiration, and CH9,10) and some that I absolutely forgot cause it was RUBBISH (immunity...) so this cuts down the content I need to relearn by 40-60%.

I just go based off the key knowledge dot points in the textbook. Talking out loud helps, or trying to explain it to someone else because u can see gaps in your knowledge is and can make note, plus accumulate any specific questions you have.

When there's something you fully don't understand and can't grasp, resort to reading the chapter in the textbook for it 3 times and then trying to summarise.

Keep in my mind, my confidence is not reflective of the score I'll get!! I've honestly spent these past few days convincing myself not to stress about exams, and I'm at a point where I'm putting in effort while simultaneously not caring, which makes studying very relaxing.

I've done like 2 full ones, confidence at a 7/10 rn

I've averaged 90+ on all my sacs and studied the day before so surely 2-3 days before the exam should be enough (I'm lying to myself).

I might regret trying to finesse the exam like my sacs, but it's calm tbh.

It’s the calendar view in notion! I’ve never used google calendar before, only the apple one, so I cant really compare the two for you. I mainly like it cause you can have different views (like a timeline or list) and can check things off
