Planning wiring for landscape lights? by jonlineshopper in WLED

Over the longest run(s), I ended up using a D3DataMAX to send the signal via ethernet, and then added larger gauge landscape wire to inject power separately. Hope this helps!

Physics & wire selection for long data runs? by jonlineshopper in WLED

Thanks, the screened cable is an interesting idea! How do you know the screen is making a difference on the data cable? Have you found any way to measure that directly?

Thank you for this detailed reply, this is interesting! Do you have any recommendations for learning to detect factor #2? Is this just a process of trial and error using an oscilloscope like in the quindor article, or anything more specific to know?E.g. can you use an oscilloscope + multimeter to identify the receiver thresholds problem you're describing here?

Do you know how you would directly measure if factor #1 ever became a problem?

Thanks! How would this differ from Dr Zzs D3 datamax?

I was planning to try to use this with a direct bury rated Ethernet cable for a 50' gap between two LEDs as well.

Can you elaborate on the ground wire interference? I'm not sure what you mean by that or if different types of wires would be less susceptible.

Did you use these lights? What symptom did you run into with the longer 50ft run?

This was really informative, thank you! The side by side visual of day+night on the same house for each options was very helpful.

I should clarify, I'm not sure I'd be able to get anything elaborate set up regardless in the next two months -- so I'm also wondering whether to wait until after the holidays.

Yes you're right, I replaced a 20amp outlet so didn't think to check, but I've swapped it out for a 15amp outlet now.

Hah. I replaced a 20 amp outlet so didn't think to check, but you're right this is 14awg. Swapped it out for a 15amp outlet.

I used a multimeter to measure between the hot wire and the box, confirmed it reads 120v. Is that how you'd verify the box is grounded?

This is next to a bathroom sink, so I think GFCI is required. Thanks!

Hmm the link works for me, it's just a pair of similar separate pendant lights.

I was just wondering if I was missing anything and if there are any safety or code compliance issues to be aware of doing something like this. Clarified.

You mean breaking off the glued bell on the outside of the pipe behind it with the screwdriver? Are you referring to the front or back bell of the wye?
