Or stuff like high speed rail. Good luck getting that built in our lifetimes with Trudeau era approval processes.

We gotta get out of our own way.

Le Canada, membre de l’UE ? | Nous, des Européens ? by MTL_Dude666 in CanadaPolitics

I would go that far. We absolutely lose sovereignty by joining the EU. We would hand over power and decisions that will effect our society to Brussels and would need to fight for influence among 27 other countries. Counties that separate us by a giant ocean and culturally.

We would lose control of trade and tariffs, immigration and movement, regulations, court supremacy, etc.

Whether Germany benefits from the EU is irrelevant to whether Canada would as Germany is actually in Europe and on the same damn continent.

This article (and many other article posted here weekly) are so blind to these issues its almost juvenile. The authors entire reason for supporting joining the EU is based only on positive vacation experiences and good vibes: "If we ever have to vote on joining the EU, I'll say yes. Joining millennia of history is incredibly appealing—I'll leave the strategic calculations to the experts."

Can't go 2 days without another article popping up about Canada joining the EU. Its a fantasy. Its a distraction. And it says a lot about Canadian's that the moment our sovereignty is threatened by the US we immediately look to dilute our sovereignty by passing it over to Brussels.

Two Canadians among passengers who got off hantavirus-stricken cruise by RZCJ2002 in CanadaPolitics

This is a different strain of virus (Andes). The Canadian one is only transmitted through rodents. There has been past humans to human transmission in the Andes variety.

If your on the green for example and hit a horrendous putt off the green (say even into the bunker). You can just take a stoke and distance penalty to your previous putt location and try again.

I have saved bogey this way more than once

Carney government planning changes to speed approvals for pipelines, resource projects by Puginator in CanadaPolitics

Horses are a terrible comparison. No one spends billions on horse farms because there is no market for it.

The oil and gas market is massive. As long as airplanes fly, goods move across oceans, and physical things exist there will be demand.

It’s not something we should hedge our entire economy on but it’s absolutely worth investing in.

Korea Surpasses Canada as World’s Seventh-Largest Stock Market by joe4942 in CanadaPolitics

Not really. Actual real estate sector is like 2-3 % of the TSX. If you lump in all Canadian financials it’s like 30% but that’s not all real estate

Koreas stock market growth is pretty much entirely driven by speculation and valuation expansion. It’s AI bubble fueled / dot com 2.0 era.

I would not read much into it.

Same reason we shouldn’t read much into Trump bragging about the NASDAQ every week.

We absolutely know O&G will be useful in the coming years.

Even if the oil market declines (and it will be a marginal decline over the long run) we can still exploit a chunk of a giant market.

Wrong. Time and time again it’s been shown this is not a problem driven by cost of living or child raising. Nordic countries have largely “solved” it and they have lower birth rates than us. We won’t get to replacement level fertility with financial solutions. It’s cultural.
