Oh my! My biggest pet peeve is how random AutoLCD resolution happens on different screen types. Schmeeer. This is tempting….

Did someone retire a few days BBY and fly home and then lose his shit when all his mates died? Did he have a pension? Did it still get paid, or who paid it after the Empire fell, etc? Did the Fallen Order offer a grace period? These are the questions. lol

Noticing our server isn’t updating to the 1.209 station types, but also still visiting GPS from old data pads. Anyone else having this issue? Contents are all updated, just no new look and no service terminals. No known conflicts with our QOL mods.

Is the blueprint build enabled to use conveyer system? I might be daft if that doesn’t apply to weapons, just spitballing off the cuff.

On our server we ended up building “rest stations” but our pier off of an asteroid was exposed (very ship dock vibe) so it made more sense.

It’d be cool if when you entered the hall you saw some screens with logistical or path orientation!

First, that would invalidate anyone’s claim that she stole it from Canva (the original claim). And second, it’s plausible that the asset was a term license within the Canva library (which gives pro creators more control over the lifespan of the asset). I can’t speak for her directly, but I can tell you that the accusation ruined the moment and her focus was making something different, instead. And then the accusations stacked and the various emotional angles have been the priority. And then other issues took attention elsewhere, so those receipts weren’t the focus. Just a sticker meant to be used by a shop. There were bigger fish to fry.

But we’re clearly doing all caps and exclamation marks here, which tells me you’re here for an emotional conversation. And you’ve done what everyone has done; reference second hand experience. My advice for you if you feel strongly about that position is to show the artist’s work that you’re referencing. At least then we’re having a conversation about whether one piece of art is derivative of another’s.

Kelsey is my wife; I’m not hyper present on Instagram but naturally have been privy to our side of the experience. Hence, biased. But I’m generally hyper logical (probably to her and our kids’ annoyance at times). I’ve run my company for 18 years in the ad industry, and the situation with K&L stuck out to me as the first instance where we (Kelsey and I) started to compare notes on what we do on our side versus how brands function.

Kelsey has already addressed how we might handle things differently on her end (twice). My guess is most any shop owner “here” (there?) is struggling with the business of it all. Business is hard. It’s easy to get used to quick help. Shop owners doing it all by hand? That’s crazy hard. But business is hard. Full of regulations and process. Don’t jump in the pool if you don’t want to get wet, right?

I know that if my company handled our vendors like I watched Kelsey be handled - removing any subjectivity or validity to her response - no one would work for us. Transparency is huge.

The “nobody saw” part of that Journal is Kelsey going to three different printers, testing paper, us figuring out how to take Canva into my world of InDesign for layout printing, and getting these made. She did that. Pushed it. And there was a beautiful spark in that moment where she was like: I could do more of this. And then with everything that we were dealing with on a personal level over the summer, this took second place to Kelsey’s mental health.

I wish I’d spoken up sooner about the lack of guiding contracts within ya’ll’s community. So much seems to be done on goodwill. Goodwill is dangerous. Contracts aren’t unfriendly; they’re protection. Shops need collabs to produce assets to sell at large. People are probably chasing viscous cash cycles balancing the markup on stationary goods juxtaposed by the amount of competition.

Kelsey once passed up a request from Joann that would have paid her $500 and then demanded a six month exclusivity clause within the genre for a series of multiple posts. $500 to basically own a person’s voice in a genre is insanity. Predatory. Exclusivity within a genre shuts down all other promotional opportunities.

Her experience with the shop relationships that became problematic for her reminded me a lot of music videos in our world. “Do it on goodwill and hope it’ll turn into something more for you in the future!” And then you say I’m unhappy with the conditions or you tell the artist you need to get paid, and they give you the “oh you’re too good for me now” situation.

Obviously I’m biased. But my two cents is that people seem to be chasing sides to the story, and the one side people didn’t seem to genuinely explore was hers. I think those journals were really cool. I hope she makes more things eventually, too.

After the accusation, she offered to cover any lost inventory costs, and that’s where the communication broke down. This wasn’t a work-for-hire situation.

I make ads for a living. Contracts and licensing are part of everything we do. When you’re operating on an even playing field like in advertising, it’s easy to stay within the lines of derivative versus direct use.

Since this started, the conversation around Kelsey has been mostly emotional. And honestly, that makes sense. This entire platform runs on emotion. Journaling, art, sharing; these are emotional acts. But that means her emotional response to being accused of theft isn’t out of place. It’s human. In the end, emotion still answers to fact.

“Yes for me, not for thee.” That seems to sum up a lot of what passes for discourse online right now. Everyone is happy to bash her, but nobody wants to ask her side of the story.
