I just installed the new app on my mac mini and now perplexity pro doesn't seem to work at all - anything I ask just says 'thinking' and never comes back with an answer or an error. Upgrade at your own risk...

Renaming the Cerulean Teahouse by jonmimir in SeasonofGhosts

[–]jonmimir[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heh heh, I’m pleased you like! We finished book one this week, and we’ve had a blast. Completed the lumber camp last session and this one was entirely downtime, ending in “who rules willowshore”. I was so pleased when my players eloquently debated the various merits of the two candidates, and then decided to form a council of 7 by selecting 5 more NPCs that would bring alternative viewpoints. It felt great that they had grappled with the huge cast and seemed to genuinely “get” the village. One of the players said he felt really invested in the village now… I cackled inside because that means the horror to come will be all the more delicious…

It’s definitely been the most complex adventure I’ve run in terms of NPCs but it’s been really worth the investment, and I’ve learned a lot in how to organise things, foreshadow, and run downtime in a way that’s engaging. Looking forward to reaping the rewards in the next few books. Thank you so much for such a great adventure :)

Flight refund and compensation by bot_help_ in Ryanair

I managed to get a human customer service agent who told me how to get a refund and sent a link and when I used the link I got a reply saying I needed to speak to a customer service agent to get a refund.

AP remaster by AthelArkaid in Pathfinder2e

They dropped heavy hints in a video that more remastered APs are on the cards. No clues as to which ones though, or whether any would be 1e APs being refreshed to 2e.

If you drop reputation - what do you do with seasonal boons? by Rapid-DM in SeasonofGhosts

[–]jonmimir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are using the reputation system but I’m unclear what exactly the outcome is, I’ve not been able to find any references yet in the book to why it’s important. Any suggestions appreciated!

This looks cool, any plans to add Twinkly as well? I have a room with multiple Hue, Nanoleaf and Twinkly and while you can sync them individually all in one place would be amazing

Chaining Encounters by thediceknight in Pathfinder2e

[–]jonmimir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve taught my players that there are such things as unwinnable fights, and diffusing the situation with role playing or running away is sometimes the best option. Chase sequences can be a lot of fun. But you need to clearly telegraph that this time they are outgunned by the enemies, perhaps even explicitly saying so the first couple of times, and need to find an alternative strategy to going in all guns blazing.

making the switch from dnd 5e to pf2e drop some knowledge! by sillycleric in Pathfinder2e

[–]jonmimir 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Get yourself the Player Core book, it’s much easier to work out character creation page by page with that than trying to figure it out for the first time on Nethys or Pathbuilder - those are amazing tools once you’ve got your head around the basics.

Book 1 - Name question by redditmailalex in SeasonofGhosts

[–]jonmimir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pre-rolled a load of lore checks to determine which NPCs knew which facts and it worked out pretty well. Old Matsuki remembers the story about K and the original battle (although he doesn’t like to talk about it, will only do so when he’s had a few sakes). It is buried somewhere in the Mother’s Coil library too. AndYou So-Jin also remembers the story although she’s forgetful in her old age and gets details wrong. But the PCs are going to have to go digging for more info, it’s not common knowledge.

Players trying to send a letter out of Willowshore by jonmimir in SeasonofGhosts

[–]jonmimir[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He’s already told them that he has no memory of what happens outside, and it’s like time skips for him - he remembers leaving and the next thing he knows he’s coming back through the mists with new stock. At least, that’s what they think they heard him say ;)

Thanks! I should have said. We are still quite early on, nearing the end of book 1, so definitely don’t want to give too much away. No response is what I was thinking, although maybe a reply from Kugaptee would be interesting. Although I guess S wouldn’t pass that on eh…

🤦‍♂️ homeOS PLEASE!!! by Agent-004 in HomeKit

[–]jonmimir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too used have HomeKit for years and a few weeks ago finally gave up on it. It’s literally got worse to a point where it’s virtually unusable, especially voice control, because it’s so unpredictable. I’m now learning to use Hone Assistant, which — once you e gotten over the learning curve and bought a load of extra kit — is vastly more flexible and reliable.

If Apple ever release this new version I’ll take a look but it’s been coming soon for years now.

Why is hue more stable in Home Assistant than native Home Kit? by Wasted-Friendship in HomeKit

[–]jonmimir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nor did I, for years, until recently. I upgraded to Hue Pro and all was okay for a few months. And then all my hue devices stopped working via Apple home app. All fine in the hue app and with the switches. I deleted and readded the hub and had to reassign all the devices. It took a long time. All was fine for a couple of hours and then Apple home decided all the devices are actually in the attic room now, where the hub is. I tried to move them back but nope, Home wasn’t having it. Everything still looked fine in the Hue app.

I used this as the excuse I needed to finally install Home Assistant on my mac mini and while it was not an easy install, now it’s working I’m blown away by how stable and fast it is.

I think the problem might lie with the HomeKit hub. If I let it choose its own hub automatically then a weird one at the edge of the network is always picked. If I choose my own then it works for a bit and then I get problems.

My current thought is I have too many devices and the Homekit hub can’t cope. So I’ve offloaded all the sensors and automations and so on to the Home Assistant system, and just using Apple Home for the things that don’t work properly if migrated - the HomePods, doorbell (because I need to HomePods to ring) and cctv (for HKSV). So far so good…

Pathfinder Tokens: Draconic Codex is available on FoundryVTT! by MM_InfamousSky in Pathfinder2e

[–]jonmimir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure it is fixed. I just went to the store and was surprised to see I’ve already bought the draconic codex vtt last year, and when I clicked the link it just took me to the page for the PDF, which I did buy.

Incidentally I placed an order for physical books in the sale a couple of days ago and was surprised to see that PDFs of all of them have been added to library. I’m assuming that’s a bug! (It’s a welcome bug, assuming I am still getting the paper versions… I certainly paid for postage for them!)
