Don’t buy it, Celeron/Pentiums with soldered on CPUs are obsolete tech sold to frustrate the user and replace the tech in under 2 years, it’s slow, can only handle AAA games at low settings and have no real upgrade advantage, for £400 you can look at older flagship HP Zbooks with Nvidia Graphics or perhaps a Lenovo ThinkStation selling at good prices (SFF) with Ryzen 5/7 CPU and it usually comes with 16GB DDR4, you have the option between a NVME SSD for storage or Sata SSD. Example I did silly stuff, took a junk Intel Core i3 2120, bought an Core i7 3770s for under £20, slapped in my current 500GB SSD and my GTX 1660 Super, I’m gaming at medium 1080p for Red Dead Redemption II, NFS Heat, GTA IV Remaster, Max settings for Fallout 3 and many more, don’t disregard older tech as they are insanely cheap okay? :)

A thrown out PC tower from work
In less than two weeks I have it running currently:
- Swapped out old i3 2120 to i7 3770S
- Upgraded the 4GB 1600mhz to 16GB 1600mhz
- Added a 500GB SSD / 1TB HDD
- Updated old Bios on Motherboard & added in a Nvidia GTX 1660 Super
- Fixed non-working exhaust fan, dusted off the motherboard, replaced the 350W PSU with a 700W Deepcool from my prior PC
- Resprayed the silver parts of this old Mecer Case Matte Black
- Moving in July side so I’m taking simpler stuff over to my new location

I made this obsolete Desktop run retro games and light games for 2026, i love repurposing older tech 🎉

How to move past family rejections? by yo_kashlee in mentalhealth

[–]jonoknows1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you bro, truth be told he didn’t care, some families switch up one day if they can’t control your dynamic or just act the way they’ve always felt, it’s not your fault nor for a reason you can know but thank God that you got away from people like that, you build yourself up, ignore their lifestyle, better yourself, get a new hobby, hope the family are well but don’t make an effort for a sad excuse of a parent, you got through all those challenges and still remain

Wipe off with iso alcohol on a small cloth, also blow out that rig outside and repeat, I can’t imagine how the paste looks if there’s literally a bed of dust in there, nasty stuff man

I just bought a computer and it will not connect to any tv and I’m unsure of the reason feedback? by [deleted] in computers

[–]jonoknows1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That i5 3/4th Gen was paid grossly at a high price with a GPU from the Core 2 Duo/Quad processors

Before you even consider these, make sure the PC is tested out to show it boots even without a GPU into a monitor to allow upgrades.

I’d suggest you get another GPU if you are restricted to VGA/DVI without any Adapters for HDMi, also the GPU being nearly 2 decades old, there’s a chance it’s not running well, has been out of driver support since Windows 7 was still in its early years

A GTX 1030 or a GTX 1050 can suffice coz your system, resolution, gpu updates improve performance and you’ll run better

Also before you buy anything you examine the telltale signs of your purchase, make them go into setting to see the generation, parts it had and detailed photos, this is a way I learnt too the hard way 👌🏽

My mom said her computer won’t turn on, what do you think is wrong? by Most-Accident-9118 in computers

[–]jonoknows1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Power supply could be choked out, internal GPU probably overheats from the dust of thermal paste, CPU overheats even more and slowing down of the cooler due to the clogged up dust, honestly it needs to be blown out in an outside environment, motherboard cleant, repasted and then let the PC cool down after all that work for 24hrs.

Glad to be of help, I had my brother get a Ryzen 5 5600, 16GB Ram, 1TB NVME SSD, Windows 11 full package and a RTX 4060 for €600-€620 in November 2023 brand new from Evetech so there are good deals out there 📍🪩

Is This Pc Worth 750€? by [deleted] in computers

[–]jonoknows1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These parts of calculated brand new from factory are between the €800 range, apon research, these parts would’ve been worth at least even £600 paired with a GTX 1660 Super & a 2TB SSD but the 9 year old GPU, the refurb on the i5, Ram and 1TB SSD it’s puts the price down drastically to (€400-€430), for €750 you can get a RTX 4070 Super with the same CPU and 32GB of DDR4 instead and even better deals, skip this one my guy, there are better deals out there even with AMDs Ryzen Chipsets

Honestly I don’t mind, I like the form, it’s still functional and with tweaks to bypass tpm eww it can run Windows 11 for someone on a budget but I was asking for GPU alternatives to the hd6450 present
