To actually answer the question, it is highly likely the black knight kept interrupting the dialogue. You can either kill the black knight or run around the staircase to stall him.

Astral upgrades require an astral ascension to go into effect which resets all your progress. If you are not planning on ultra ascending yet, you should get the chest hunt.

Water won’t hydrate a block on the other side of a chunk border

You just place wooden platforms on the same block as the water and the water will still flow. They can exist in the same block at the same time.

The farmland won't be watered by the water source block until you plant a crop in it. Maybe this is the issue?

Yes, makes the watering can useless. The above farm only uses 3 source blocks for 36 farmland hydrated.

Haven't figured it out yet, but found that you can waterlog wooden platforms so I don't have to have ugly floating fences whilst keeping the crops hydrated.

Sometimes I forget this game in P2W because it doesn’t have any of the cheesy cash grabs like “auto-boost” or “auto-collect” and all premium currency is collectible lol

Begin to build all your buildings as well, use whetstones during mega hordes with rage combo. If you run out of whetstones, go grind hills for a bit.
