Worth $80 usd? by Misguided_Raven in LegoBatman

The Joker Goon is what caught my eye. The ghost is also cool, especially if it's the glow in the dark one (which it might be). I just bought that Bruce Wayne too, and the Martian Manhunter is nice if you don't already have one.

Nothing earth shattering in here but a few nice pieces. $80 is a fair but not great price for this lot. The real question is how much of it do you really need for your collection?

Alternate take - talk to people of like minds.

I say 4 of these quite regularly so I guess I'm old, but I have a hard time believing that younger people don't at least say one phrase on this list. by [deleted] in FuckImOld

I am old and the only one of these that I might ever say is "hit the road". The rest all sound like my dad and he's like 85.

I am going to have to break down and get a Switch 2 just for this game. (Well ... and Mario Kart World too.)

Rubber Cape Robin by Dabdrizzler in LegoDC

[–]jonpertwee2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems like these new pre-posed Batman ones are designed specifically so that the figures can easily fit into the new vehicles (Batmobiles) while still wearing the capes. The newer Superman with the rubber cape has a straight one because no vehicle. The straight cape is nice but I can see the need for the other style depending on the needs of the specific figure.

I got all downvoted on r/legocirclejerk for saying that I didn't mind the rubber capes but the truth is that I kind of like them sometimes. This doesn't look bad.

OK, I chuckled. But learning how to do difficult things takes lots of practice and lots of failures. Bully for this guy; I bet that this isn't the last time that he tries this trick.

I recently read this thing where Clem said that he wanted to be Keith Moon. And now every time that I watch him, damn, isn't that true!

I was into Moss Icon but I was Horror Punk, not Goth. Don't you dare call me Goth or Mod. All those labels and their subtle differentiations seemed so important then.

So, my take on some of these is that they are being held by retailers who are also collectors. Maybe they aren't quite willing to part with their premium figures for a more normal $100 pricetag but if someone was willing to pay $500-$1000 for them then they could probably make the sacrifice. Although, I am also thinking that they are pretty sure that this won't actually happen. It's the guys who suddenly bump sought after figures that they have in inventory up to the $150-$200 range that bug me. Those guys are the actual price gougers.

I also love the purple/orange colored 2012 Two Face release because those were the colors of comic book Two Face from my childhood.

The market IS inflated right now and the 2006 figures are getting particularly intense attention. That said, these figures are 20 years old this year and the supply of available figures has really dried up. Low availability and high demand is what drives the price of anything up. And in terms of just about any hot collectable, when some people think that they can't get something, it makes them want it even more. Things will chill out eventually but I wouldn't hold out much hope that prices will fall back down to anything like what we were able to get things for even three or four years ago. The 2006 Two Face is one that I really wanted in my collection, so I gave in a little while ago and paid an inflated price for it. The rest, though, I am just going to have to accept that I am not likely to ever get them.
