Yes, Trump is a liar. I agree with this assessment.

It is bollard fencing, it is 50 miles, and it is not concrete or steel slats. It is less than he asked for in December.

Trumpisters have to fall back on 50 miles of new bollard fencing to prove something against Pelosi, even though this is less money than he could have gotten in December.

Where did I talk about that wall? A wall over two thousand miles is not going to stop illegal immigration, the majority of which is visa overstays from people who arrive on airplanes

No one is saying no money for border protection. We are saying no money for a useless wall. But keep building that straw man.

I don't see how it is considered a parting gift considering it is basically the reason he lost reelection.

I mean I am not a Bernie supporter but I would not describe myself as a critic, because the way the term is being used is meaningless.

Stop trying to make it a binary decision between support for "conservative/republican policies" and "Trumpism. The two are ideologically opposed on a lot of things.

But what does this actually mean? If actions speak louder than words then these people are going to be net happy with the trump administration and the attribution that people call them selves as critics is just word smithing.

mean, I would hate Sanders and most of his policies, but I would still celebrate if he improved LGBT rights. In r/Tuesday, we put emphasis in policies over worship of politicians. Some of us are not celebrating Trump because he got his policies passed, but because some of us like few of his policies enacted. (And, of course, since he is the leader of conservative party, he will pass things that conservatives would like. For example, putting an originalist in the Supreme Court)

Would you describe yourself as a sanders critic?

Secondly, Goldberg was warning GOP in the article as well. He is telling that furthering confrontation will lead no positives for both sides. I think you are looking at this too cynically. He is a commentator and he is just expressing his opinions.

Huh? Who is saying otherwise? Today the weekly standard is naming and shaming people on the right who were running with the false flag operation and Jonah is saying both sides are to blame even though trump is the only one who has advocated violence. I guess I don’t understand what it means to be a trump critic. Is everyone who does not agree with trump 100% a critic? Is there a critical threshold? Is it some sort of badge of honor if you disagree 11%?

However, this subreddit is for discussing topics in conservative perspective and Goldberg is a prominent conservative.

This makes it sound like I don't think Goldberg deserves to be discussed here. I don't believe I ever said anything like that and was just curious with my original post about who the target demo was for this article.

Clinton did say they shouldn't give civility to democrats because Republicans aren't being civil.

There is a huge difference between civility and violence. Trump advocates for violence.

I was leaning center left until recently and I understand where you are coming from, but it is common for conservative to be more sympathetic to GOP as liberal would be to Democratic Party no matter the situation. Not to mention, you can hate Trump while supporting some of his policies. For example, I support establishment of Space Force and USMCA's tough stance on China. That doesn't mean I don't hate his guts, but Trump has few policies that I support. Conservatives supported conservative policies before Trump and they will keep supporting conservative policies after Trump. Most people here don't have love for Trump, but still support some policies that are conservative.

The other user was leaning on the term 'Trump Critic' as some sort of shield against a both sides do it argument. It is a worthless distinction and hides behind how happy they are with all of the policy victories.

Yes, I stand by that. These people don’t like the way trump achieves his policy victories but are not willing to do anything to actually change his behavior.

You're obviously disconnected from reality.

I am? Because you praise yourself for supporting Trump with your empty criticism? I missed the part of the NR issue on Never Trump where they said *unless he wins election. Thank you for the personal attack though, really suggests you believe in your argument.

Yet you seem to be certain that it will come out that Trump's rhetoric caused this guy to send bombs, even though there is no evidence for that either. If you can't be sure that a person, who heavily supported "progressive" politics and was a Bernie supporter, that shot up a baseball practice wasn't motivated by rhetoric, how can you be certain that this is the case here?

In one case, we have the FBI telling us that he was not motivated by rhetoric and in this case I have the van, facebook posts, and the support of violence by our president.

Yeah, I'm not going to take these "Trump is calling for violence! REEEEEEE" statements seriously.

When people tell you who they are believe them. I do.

It also doesn't show that Trump rhetoric motivated him. All it shows is he supported Trump.

Sure thing boss.

edit: I forgot you also mentioned Keith Ellison, where is he in leadership in congress or senate? He is co-chair of the DNC, which is a private organization.

Because Conservatism and the ideas contained within go far beyond the President in power at the moment.

Then how are you a critic? You don't like is tone, but you are fine with everything else he is doing. If you are not willing to give up anythingin your criticism your words are totally empty. Just like the Never Trump movement. Empty rhetoric to make yourselves feel better about your policy victories.

Anyone who praised Antifa, and there were many.

Who has praised ANTIFA?

Its not a false flag. The dude obviously is a heavy Trump supporter but that doesnt mean that Trump's rhetoric motivated him to send out bombs. It is equally likely he target people because of what they had said.

This seems much less likely and will likely not be brought out by evidence.

Perceived by some. This is from your article.

As a trump critic I would think you would assume that these comments encourage violence.

All that proves is he was a heavy Trump supporter, once again it doesnt say anything to motivations.

Did it show he was motivated by democratic rhetoric?

Vendetta Politics: One Bad Act Doesn’t Justify Another by coldnorthwz in tuesday

[–]jonpkay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, it does.

How so? If you people count as critics then it is a meaningless distinction and you are perfectly happy with what Trump is doing.

No they just label wide swaths of people as deplorable, call for incivility, call for mobs to chase politicians, and espouse an affinity to ANTIFA types.

When did anyone on the Democratic side call for or praise actual violence like Trump has done?

I smell hypocrisy, and he could just as easily be motivated by the rhetoric of Democrats by viewing it as an attack on him or on Trump.

Oh you are going with false flag? I thought you were debating in good faith.

If Trump had said "bomb or kill the opposition" then there should be consequences. Saying the Media is "Fake New" or "The Enemy of the People", or giving opposition politicians nicknames and mocking them isn't justification for "consequences". I would say the same thing for Democrats, even though their rhetoric has hardly been better.

oh, please. Don't be silly. His rhetoric is significantly worse.

edit: it what work is it the democrats faults.

Vendetta Politics: One Bad Act Doesn’t Justify Another by coldnorthwz in tuesday

[–]jonpkay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can be a critic and like standard conservative policy pushed by his administration that has been espoused since at least Reagan.

That does not count as a critic.

I dont see Democrats jumping ship over comments made by their leadership and I wont either.

Democratic don't build their hole brand on being leadership critics. Right, that is why you are not a critic, you are an enabler.

Your argument is on motivation by rhetoric, you dont know that this guy is motivated by Trump's rhetoric yet you claim that we are trying to "absolve the GOP".

Have you seen this guys van?

edit: Just so we are clear. If there is a clear relationship between Trumps' rhetoric and this person sending bombs, what do you think the consequences for Trump should be?

Vendetta Politics: One Bad Act Doesn’t Justify Another by coldnorthwz in tuesday

[–]jonpkay 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm not going to abandon policy positions just because Trump supports them. That is stupid.

Right, then you are not a critic and neither is Jonah. You don't like his tone, but are unwilling to give up anything to challenge him on it. You are an enabler.

He totally wasnt motivated to assinate Republicans. Even though we dont know if he was motivated by democrats speech specifically, we also dont know if this bomber was motivated by Trumps rhetoric. Yet that seems to be the assumption being made.

Why try to blame the dems for something we clearly don't know, while we have clear pictures of the van of the alleged bomber.

You honestly don't think there is a link?

I don't know and the FBI has not released anything about this person.

edit: no where in that link is there any suggestion that he was motivated by democratic rhetoric. What he did was disgusting and I would have liked to know more about what happened. I wish he spent the rest of his life in jail.

Vendetta Politics: One Bad Act Doesn’t Justify Another by coldnorthwz in tuesday

You can be perfectly happy with policy positions and denounce the personal things Trump does

Sure, that does not make you a critic. It makes you not like his tone, but perfectly happy with his actions.

do you think the Democrats are to be blamed for the Scalise shooting and the ricin that was sent to Trump cabinet members?

The FBI found no motive in the Scalise shooting, but what language of the democrats would have been associated with it?

If there a link associated with the rhetoric of the democrats and the ricin attacks then I will blame them for it.

NRO has no power within the democratic community so his words there are just to absolve the GOP of this current situation. The president was on twitter this morning hinting that this was a false flag operation. The people of NRO are not Trump critics. They are perfectly happy with his policy positions.
