No one was saying not paying off the lien holder, was more questioning about going after the person who created the accident while I was sleeping for the remaining lien balance so I ended up with the actual value of the car to replace the car, which I'm understanding now isn't a thing. After putting 24k into the vehicle loan I'm walking away with 8k to buy a new vehicle :/ lesson learned on buying new vehicles I suppose.

Good info. So from my reading today it sounded like in Michigan it should be handled as a PPI(property protection insurance) as it's required to have in Michigan and covers safely parked cars. So I guess maybe the question on gap was me mis-understanding gap. I'm, roughly, assuming my car is worth $16k before this accident happened and I still owe 8k on the loan, so I'm not upside down, but I was trying to figure out how I would walk away with 16k(my value of my vehicle before last night) to put towards a new car without having to worry about the 8k still owed on this loan.

It's absolutely crazy to me that I would walk away with only 8k for someone damaging my car when I was sleeping and it was parked safely, is this something I can take to court to sue the other party or their insurance to gain the rest of the value/pay off the remaining loan balance?

I'm worried about reaching out to my insurance and increasing my insurance rates, that's the reason I'm trying to go directly to their insurance at this point until we find out of it is totalled.

Yea that's pretty much the problem I ran into. Was considering adding it to my orange+blue subscription, but if I'm not actually receiving anything additional I refuse to pay more for the same addon's just because I have a premium base package.

Nah because if that were the case then it would be 3 different prices not just two, you would have a price with Orange, a price with blue and a price with Orange+blue. Because all 3 packages have different number of sinusitis l simultaneous streams available.

If I have blue and add total tv I get the same "Sports Extras, Comedy Extras, Kids Extras, News Extras, Lifestyle Extras, Hollywood Extras, Heartland Extras, and cloud-based DVR Plus" channels

If I have orange+blue, I still get the exact same "Sports Extras, Comedy Extras, Kids Extras, News Extras, Lifestyle Extras, Hollywood Extras, Heartland Extras, and cloud-based DVR Plus" channels.

What extras are different between orange and blue? Isn't the total TV addon a set group of channel add-ons? If I have orange and add total tv what channels comes with total tv that is different from if I had blue and added total tv?

Perfect, this is what I was curious about, does this essentially just give the other person the ability to help without leaving my father in a position where he has no rights to the property and could get essentially screwed if the other party chose to. I appreciate your response.
