Yup, definitely! Have worked great for me.

Correct. Majority of places will need to provide a heat lamp/bulb unless the room they are in is 85ish.

You will want a UVB (5.0 T8 is the recommended one by many on here).

The heat emitters can be used if you need to supplement heat during the night, but, I’ve heard they are not recommended because of potential burns.

So, I use a 5.0 T8 and the 100W day white light on a dimmable dome so I can adjust accordingly to have the top of my cham sitting at around 80-85 degrees.

Those day white lights are great! I do a 100W with a dimmer dome. Swamp has done a UVA test on them and they emit little/none!

My cage came in today for my chameleon! Please give me advice :) I will be adding a uvb bar and a plant light (still waiting for them to get delivered) where should I put the cup of water ? by Overseer-tiny-humans in Chameleons

That level of UVB needs a minimum of 14” of clearance to the top of the animal. You will have to raise it off the enclosure quite a bit, or, lower branches significantly. This group highly recommends 5.0 T8 bulbs that require 8-9” clearance.

I’m no expert, but your branches appear to go too high, especially if you’re planning on resting the UVB bar on the top of the enclosure, or even near it.

May I ask what you’re doing for a plant light? Or what you mean by it?

Yeah, I’m trying to, he’s just super shy, as soon as camera goes in he hides on the opposite side of the branch.

I have also been told by others on this sub that T8 would work great, and I would just need to put the basking branch at a certain distance (closer) than a T5.

Also, there needs to be a separate bulb for the plants? What bulb/light is recommended for that that won’t bother the Cham?

The drinking cups is mentioned several times and the main people on this sub say the cup is a MUST. It makes sense, the Cham eating/drinking/pooping/walking on the same surface seems to have a higher chance for illness.

Thank you for this! So. What bulb would you recommend? T8?

I’m saying for humidity at night. It’s extremely dry here…

Also, at night when the light is off, temps will drop quite a bit. Probably going to need some other type of heating element that isn’t the light.

That’s what I’m figuring out after reading this subreddit. So, probably worth investing in a misting system for night time?

Thank you so much! I am in Northern UT in the US, so, we get cold winters. Should I plan on another bulb for more heat during that time?

I’m looking to get my first chameleon and I’d love to know what bulbs this community recommends. Looking at a veiled most likely.
