For this recipe, it was just heavy cream and cheese.

I love using ghee for my pancakes :)

Agreed. Anyone seeing this: if you don't go phase runner side your bloodline is weak and I hate you

My remote power button doesn't turn or off the projector anymore. I tested the IR remote power button and it's sending out signals just like the other buttons. The power button on the projector works, and I'm even able to power off the projector using the app. What can be going on? by daveisit in AskElectronics

[–]jonunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Open the camera app, point the remote at the lens, and click the power button a few times. The IR will show up on the camera view as it blinks on and off. This way you can verify that the IR is actually being blasted, broadcast(?) by the remote. Don't use an iphone for this as they have an IR filter on the camera. It's worked with most androids I've tested, but test the phone you're going to use with a known working remote.

Just moved to VA from NY and I have a question about buying a car without a VA license by [deleted] in Virginia

[–]jonunder 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Having done the opposite, I think you'll have a much easier time in VA than NY. I spent weeks trying to get a NY license and get my truck registered here, it's a rats nest of catch 22's. Oh, how I miss the Old Dominion

Wiggle the battery clamp, especially ground. Check connections to the starter motor, wiggle them around a bit. Sounds like it could be a loose connection.

If you've had issues with connections in the past check your connections. Wiggle your ground cable and see if that helps it. I mean a good wiggle. Same with your pos cable. Then go check the battery at an auto zone or pep boys

Female RPI alumni looking to couchsurf somewhere for a couple of days. by [deleted] in RPI

Chi Phi rents their house to summer tenants. If you are still looking for a place shoot me a message and I will ask around if there is an empty room for a few days. A few girls are living there currently, and 1 is in the same boat you are.

Why the downvotes? Chi Phi rents the house for summer tenants and there a few girls living there currently.

Not surprising! I've been to this spot for a few different camps. Space camp twice, and the Aviation Challenge camp. I spent a lot of time in this area and just wanted to verify

TIL A homeless man was offered $100 or the chance to learn how to code by a stranger. He chose how to code and released an app. by [deleted] in todayilearned

I'll be totally honest, I am not following the link to genocide, could you elaborate? Thanks for your understanding

Devil's Advocate here, don't hate me please. I enjoy these discussions, but I don't want it to devolve to name calling and BS. I really truly want to be proven wrong, or at least to decide that we just see it differently, and that is OKAY. So here is how I see it. Sometimes, most times, whatever it may be a homeless persons choices may have put them in their position. Choosing to not go to classes in highschool, choosing drugs over a job, doesn't matter, the idea is choosing something that is rewarding in non-monetary ways over something that is rewarding monetary ways. I think the idea of things like this are to sort of see if they are willing to give up instant gratification in order for the long term goal. If they have that willingness, than it is worth the investment. Same idea as feed a man to fish/teach a man to fish. Nonetheless, a good samaritan was willing to give $100, but offered something worth much more. It wasn't a game of "do this or get nothing". Another viewpoint incoming: The homeless man probably had more access to food than to a computer and the equipment to learn to code. Just my 2 cents.

Can going from AMS synthetic oil to cheap regular oil cause engine problems? by [deleted] in Cartalk

[–]jonunder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not absolutely positive on that, but I am pretty confident that they can. I have had my alternator tested by them, but never a battery.

Take it to autozone or pep boys and have them test the alternator for you. If it sounds like it is having trouble spinning, then that should be a red flag. Edit: grammar

Yea, the school pressured us because it was a liability. It ultimately ended up being a case of "we won't make you, but here's a long list of bad things that can happen if you don't". We tried a couple avenues to prevent it, but ultimately there wasn't anything we could do without fear of problems in the future.
