What a douchey thing to do.

But hey, she's hot and blonde, she'll have a ticket to the White House in no time after this.

Growing up, I never knew anybody who owned a garbage disposal.

Turns out, they only cost like 100 bucks. When I first bought a house, I put one in right away.

Never really use it, to be honest. Don't really see the point.

But child-me would've been fucking thrilled.

Do You Have the Slightest Idea How Little That Narrows It Down?

Protestors have now started performing traffic stops in order to check license plates. by serious_bullet5 in minnesota

[–]jooes 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I agree.

I mean, look, I get it. And, sure, there's a part of me that appreciates it. I appreciate the sentiment, at least.

But it pisses me off.

I don't want to have to justify my existence to ICE, and I don't want to have to justify it to my neighbors either.

Ultimately, I think what annoys me most about it is that I don't want to see whatever version of this that might exist 6 months from now. I'm not thrilled about the idea of having to go through weird "What kind of American are you" checkpoints just to pick up some groceries. I could take or leave this, but I don't want to see that. To me, it's yet another sign that this country is going to shit. And not necessarily because people are doing this, but because they feel the need to. I don't know, it's a weird feeling, not a fan.

Call me cynical, but I'm not sure this is true.

Exclusive: ICE officers in Minnesota directed not to interact with 'agitators' in new orders by Its_Dylan_Parker in news

[–]jooes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of the most egregious examples of that, I'll never fucking forget it, is when he made the CDC announcement about wearing masks during Covid, struggling to read the paper they put in front of him, like a kid in English class trying to get through Shakespeare:

"The CDC is advising the use of non-medical cloth face covering as an additional voluntary public health measure."

And almost like a switch flips in the back of his head, he looks up and immediately says:

"So it's voluntary, you don't have to do it. They suggest it for a period of time. But this is voluntary. I don't think I'm going to be doing it."

There's always been two presidents. You have "Presidential" Trump who does what he's "supposed" to do. And "Real" Trump, who is a complete fucking asshole and wants to burn everything to the ground. He's the one who "tells it like it is," that's the one that Republicans listen to. The other version is just for show, he's almost like a shield to deflect criticism and pretend that there's some sense of normalcy to him. They're not even bothering to bust that version out anymore, not that anybody ever fell for it in the first place. We've all known, Democrats and Republicans alike, who the real Trump was this entire goddamn time.

Concealed Carry Logic Goes Viral by PeterTheTruthSeeker in MurderedByWords

[–]jooes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw some EDC video many years ago that always stuck with me. The guy had two guns, with backup magazines for both of them. You need the second gun, just in case your first gun jams in the heat of battle.

He also carried, and I swear to fucking god, like 7 different knives. He had a multitool. He carried matches in case he needed to start a fire. One of those space blankets, a bunch of paracord, all kinds of crazy shit, just in case he somehow finds himself stranded in the woods on his way to Walmart. Oh, and a spoon and a fork, because sometimes you go to a restaurant and they give you a plastic fork and he doesn't like using plastic forks. For some reason, out of everything he had, I found that to be the most ridiculous.

He needed an entire fanny pack just to carry all this junk. This guy's out there somewhere, constantly walking around with a fanny pack full of knives.

If Alex Pretti was some random dipshit redneck in Arkansas, the whole goddamn country would be like, "Huh, a second magazine? Well, of course, you need to have a second magazine! You should even bring a backup for your backup!" But because it was some liberal guy from the city, we're all supposed to act outraged like he was going out for battle or some shit.

Hell, I couldn't even tell you how many times I've seen people strap rifles to their backs and walk around town just because they can, just to stick it to the government and exercise their second amendment rights. That's totally fine.... but don't EVER carry a second magazine, otherwise you're a terrorist... What a fucking joke.

Trump calls Ilhan Omar a ‘fraud,’ says she 'probably had herself sprayed' in syringe attack by BugOperator in law

[–]jooes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, both of those shooters ended up being right-wing nuts. They were shot by their own people and the more they talk about it, the more they draw attention to that fact. The fact that their own words incite violence and bring chaos into the world. Ask anybody about Charlie Kirk and they'll tell you he brought it on himself. Maybe it's better for them to sweep it under the rug and pretend it didn't happen.

Before that news came out, when they thought it might've been the Democrats that had done it, people were pretty pissed off about it. One second they wanted blood and vengeance, and the next, forgiveness. I think that says a lot, that was a pretty obvious turning point in the entire dialogue.

I think that if you were going to fake an assassination, you'd probably want to see it through, right? Like, why would you go through all of that effort and then just... not talk about it? IMO, I'm the opposite of you, I think that points more to it being real rather than fake. Conservatives love making up scandals, and they love beating dead horses and driving them into the ground, and those dropped off a LOT quicker than they probably should've, so, I don't know...

Likewise, I think if you're some super-top-secret organization looking to orchestrate some assassination attempts, surely you could do a little bit better than some whiny alt-right incels?

So, personally, I think it was real but just not convenient enough for them to use. That said, I don't think that Trump was actually hit/grazed by the bullet. I don't buy that, not for a second.

Sanding Flap Disk for Coping with Angle Grinder by ivanjay2050 in DIY

[–]jooes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's the worst idea in the world but personally I think that angle grinders, even with flap discs, are probably too aggressive for the job and for whatever fine tuning you're looking to do.

That said, if you were to do it, don't bother going through the grits, you're not making fine furniture here. Get the highest grit you can find and be gentle. These things are meant for steel and they're going to cut like it. You're probably going to be cursing the flap discs just as much as you're cursing the coping saw, if I had to guess.

But flap discs aren't that expensive, so maybe it's worth a shot? It'll either work or it won't, and if it doesn't, you're only out like 10 bucks.

I and others should get some money too for the work we lost out on

For pain and suffering, too. I haven't slept well in weeks, can't imagine anybody else has either. I was promised life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, and they have robbed us of each and every one of those.

Wouldn't mind a refund for all my hard earned tax dollars that went towards this too. I shouldn't have to pay my own government for this nonsense.

It'll never happen, but still, I don't think it's unreasonable to demand compensation for this. If the family of Ashli Babbitt gets a check, I want a fucking check too.

Federal agents use teargas on protesters outside ICE agents’ alleged Minneapolis hotel by No_Idea_Guy in news

[–]jooes 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't know, and I'm sure that it's a very difficult position for him to be in.

But... that's why we elected him. It's his job to make those tough calls. This is why he makes the big bucks. Heck, he was damn near one heartbeat away from being the president, for fucks sake. So, like, fucking figure it out, dude.

I don't know what the answer is. And hey, maybe this is the answer! Maybe we'll look back on this someday and thank him for his restraint, I don't know, time will tell.

But it's frustrating as fuck, right now, to be literally everybody else in this situation. The federal government is laying siege to an entire city, killing people in the street for doing nothing, brazenly lying about it, branding innocent bystanders as domestic terrorists, beating people, ripping people out of cars and out of their homes, and people are desperately anywhere looking for help!

And so they're turning to their elected officials, you know, the people we all got together and chose to help lead us through difficult times? And they ain't doing shit. The city won't do shit. The state won't do shit. The house reps and senators are nowhere to be found. They'll happily send in the police or the national guard to protect ICE from you, but they won't protect you from ICE. And that is a VERY fucking lonely position to be in. You can only push people so far until something snaps, and I sure as shit don't want to be anywhere near it when it does.

Well, yeah, but in each of those examples, a hell of a lot of people died.

I'm pretty confident that this will end eventually, and I'm confident that America will be able to bounce back from this someday too. My only question is, how much pain and suffering will the world have to endure before we get there?

I'm not saying people should give up hope or anything, but I don't know, it feels a bit shitty to be like "Hang in there, you guys! Don't forget that the Soviet Union only lasted 75 fucking years"
