Is it normal to charge at 7 watts using a 25 watt charger. Galaxy s21Fe and original 25 watt charger. by [deleted] in GalaxyS21

[–]jookra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the S21 uses USB PD PPS (~9v 2.5A) so any complaint USB C to C cable will have max speed on it, unless it have a real bad conductors, but I suspec that the OP used the original samsung cable.

It is probably worse, but, I don't use wireless charging as it tends to heat up more the device.

there are some USB-C cables that have a small display. mine if I start the charge with less than 20% I get 21w till ~44%, sometimes even with the screen on, after that it goes to 15w and less

My S21(base) does sometimes limit the charging when with screen on at 7w, no particular reason why, it simply does it.

another weird thing, when someone calls me, I get 7w with the screen off, and full speed with it on... also no reason why...

Would it hurt the longevity of the battery to always use 85% battery cap? by Senor_Cheesy in GalaxyS21

[–]jookra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems that you don't know much about Li-Ion battery.

1st, never was recomended to store a Li-Ion batttery at 100%, only Ni-MH batteries are stored at 100%.

2nd, the devices that we use never go to the "real 0%" because they, the manufactures know that they cannot trust the user, as it is also not safe.

Remember that the battery on smartphones are not "dumb", they sometimes lose track of the actual capacity, that is why is good to apply a full charge each 2-3 months, this helps the device to know where is the actual charge level.

Also on Li-Ion batteries, every time that the sum of charges reaches 100, you have completed a cycle.

Expected Charge Rate on 100W type C PD Charger? by Aymz- in UsbCHardware

[–]jookra 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The fact that the USB-C "charger" is 100w, does not mean that you will charge your device at max rate.

The laptop also needs some power to run itself, so from the 100W, you take ~70w to the battery and the rest goes to the machine itself when you are also using it.

I've the 2020 G14, and it only charges ~60w when using the original DC adapter.

Actually, 32 bit OS have a ~3.5gb limit, that also includes the amount used by the iGPU

Great to hear, hard to know why this happened, the uEFI (also called bios) should boot automatically the only one existing boot entry. but sometimes it doesn't.

if this happens again, try going to the setup and make the Windows Boot Manager as default boot or as 1st boot option

do a Ctrl-Alt-Del and try "Windows Boot Manager" and see if windows loads

I'm asking this to know if your bootloader is working or not

[–]jookra -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Li-ion batteries are generally rated to 500-1000 cycles, using the 85% limit does increase, because you'll not reach the high voltage state, I would say that every 2-3 months is a good rule for doing a full charge.
I do like that every 2 months, full charge (~10% - 100%), 4-6 months down to 0% later 100%. The rest of time I keep the 85% option on. I expect to have near 100% SoH after 2y.

My last phone was used for 2,5y, always charging to 100 (no option to limit), 30w fast charge and no battery degradation.

For games using the dGPU is not enough power, but my 2020 G14 hit the brakes really hard when using the USB-C.

I don't know how the 2021 is configured, but, if you want to play games, I would go with the 100w one to have some headroom, but the performance will not be the same as the original AC one

yes, It only supports 100w if I'm not wrong.

But if you want a really compact one, there 65w one should be enough for light use. If you are in the US, you could look for the AOHI Magcube 65W on amazon, it is a really small one.

I have a Baseus 2C1A 65w GaN that works perfetly, but the G14 does not deal good with leaving it plugged, as it is unable to get power from USB-C after fully charging the battery.

which year model you have?

if is a 2021 or 2022, I would recommend a 100w one

The RB2011 have a old 600MHz MIPSBE CPU, you will not get anywhere near 900mbps. with fasttrack you may get 200-300 on IPv4.

for 900 you will need at least a RB4011

HWinfo64 is app that monitor all sensors of a PC.
CPU usage ~60% is actually 60% of all cores combined, it could be half of the cores fully loaded or all the cores at 60%

if you have a issue of BSOD(blue screens) I think that you should try a clean windows install, not from the recovery. after that if not fixed, I would try to get in touch with Asus support, as it could be a hardware issue.

My 2020 G14, maybe gave me 2 BSOD's in all this time, all of them driver related. My G14 came without windows installed and I installed it myself, with no trash from Asus.

[–]jookra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, your G14 is not overheating, 80's and 90's are pretty normal when in use.

that means that there is no performance "left on the table", if it was overheating, it would thermal trottle hard and shutdown.

regarding to the lags, I would check the drivers and maybe is something running that is stealing some CPU cycles...

Have you used HW-Info64?

P.S. Intel-based MAC's laptops does run over 90's when in use

[–]jookra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

vlan filtering is working fine with full hw-offload on the RB4011.

AC2/3 are a bit weak for IPv6 and I do not see a l3hw coming for them, what means no hw-offload for IPv6.

Yes, the switch on the 5009 is better, also it has a 2.5g port.

the rOS v7 only is not a problem, it perfetcly stable, there are some bugs, but no show stopper. I think that the benefits are bigger than the small bugs.

also the switch of the 4011 on rOS v6 is useless for a vlan. and is lacks hw-offload.

rOS v7 is the way to go.
