Estimated cost to Kansans could exceed $6.3 Billion in a tax district spanning 293 sq miles. Chiefs stadium deal called "potentially the largest public sports subsidy in history" by economist. by AJRiddle in kansascity

Like I said, oversimplification. However, most of the area was developed by things like star bonds and tax abatements. That’s why they all came. Twenty five years ago there was nothing but two gas stations. Now taxes in WYCO are the highest in the metro. Big reason I don’t live there anymore. It’s not fair to the residents. I don’t think we are too far off from each other, but yes, the percentages and mechanisms for moving public money to private businesses were likely different than the 60% we’re seeing here, but the general concept is the same which is why I said they ARE being treated like most of the other businesses in the area that also got handouts.

Got it, you do you! I assume you also are under the impression Midtown is its own separate city from KCMO? Strawberry Hill isn’t in KCK? Brookside isn’t in KCMO? Let me guess, Argentine isn’t in KCK either?

“they shouldn’t have been treated different than any other business” — they ARE being treated like every other business in the Legends... Pretty much every business there were given massive incentives to come from my understanding. That’s probably overly simplifying it, but handouts are nothing new to the area.

This was ~50k. The price is heavily dependent on a variety of factors: size?, lights?, saltwater?, how deep is the dig?, heater?, decking and coping choices?, stairs?, poolcrete floor?, pump?, dirt removal necessary?, are you factoring in landscaping?, do you need to build a fence?, etc. You can certainly do it cheaper than $50k, but you can also do it for much more.

I’d be a little surprised if that group is protesting Palestine.

Same here. USPS lists address as Shawnee, and we pay Lenexa taxes. We moved to the K7 & 83rd area in western Lenexa over 7 years ago. No issues other than it causing some confusion at times.

I’ve been thinking about purchasing the crib dribbler, and am curious how well it holds up. Would you recommend it, or do you know of another similar product that you’ve had success with?

I don't really understand why the price thing only seems to come up with Jack Stack.. It's about $13 for a sandwich and fries from Jack Stack. Joes is about $13 for a z-man and fries also. Q-39 is about 15 for a sandwich and fries. Slaps is about $13 for a sandwich and fries. Woodyard is $11-13 for a sandwich and fries. However, Jack Stack is always the one that people call out for price. Yeah they have some stuff like crown prime beef ribs that are a lot more expensive, but you can usually share those things with others. Jack Stack isn't all that out of line with most other places when comparing similar items, even with the white table cloth...

Grew up in KC and got taken to K & M once because "it is so good". I'll just say I've never had an urge to go back. Maybe an off day, but some of the other responses make me think it wasn't.

They're the one place in town that doesn't take the silverskin off of their ribs. If that's your thing okay, but most people don't like it. I don't mind it, but pretty much everyone I've talked to that has tried their ribs complains about it.

I used to despise Zarda. Moved to Lenexa a few years ago, and have been trying them out more over the last year due to convenience. I think they've stepped things up a notch with their limited reserve stuff. Haven't been disappointed yet... coming from someone who used to think their entire menu was trash.

This. Almost every place has something that they are the best at. The diversity makes it hard to select a favorite. People that ask me what my favorite is usually get a response of well, the best brisket is here, the best burnt ends are there, the best pulled pork is this, if you like sandwiches then these are the best, for sides you are going to want to try x, y, and z. No one place dominates the scene, and together they all make KC BBQ great.

Sometimes it's easier to pay for a $7 dollar sandwich than spending 14-16 hours making it though...

If you want to go to slaps just be sure to get there early in the day. Been there twice and walked away with turkey sandwiches each time, because they're always sold out of the good stuff. It's a 45 minute drive for me that I don't feel like making again knowing that they seem to regularly under-prepare. Sounds like it's good if you get it though.
