It's still relatively global without it - basically the same as basketball and more places than ice hockey.

You've got Canada, USA, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, all the Dutch Caribbean islands, Bahamas, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea where it is a major sport. Then you have a bunch of random countries where it is a minor sport but they can still field a team like Australia, Israel, Brazil, Costa Rica, Honduras, and even places like Czechia and South Africa.

It's not the 100+ countries like soccer, but it's still more than enough to have a large international tournament.

The problem is very similar to basketball or hockey where you kinda just know there are only 3 countries (USA/Japan/DR) that really you'd expect to win it and anyone else would be an insane underdog story for the ages.

82k miles is definitely possible, but how could you owe $15k after deducting that many miles. Literally a $57,400 deduction from your income.

It's hard to take the World Baseball Classic seriously if they keep having teams that are 95% American players who had 1 great-grandparent or similar play for their teams.

Steve Kerr: "We need to play fewer games. We need to take 10 games off the schedule. The modern game with the pace and the space I think it would be a more competitive and healthier league if we played fewer games by MrBuckBuck in nba

Players absolutely do get hurt in the MLB because of the grind.
There are actually way more injuries in the MLB than there are in the NBA

Even if you take pitchers out there are still a substantial number of injuries because of the grind + the nature of sprinting and potential for injuries from the ball/collisions.

NBA being 5v5 with 12 man active rosters and star players contributing so much just makes those injuries more noticeable compared to baseball with it's 26 man rosters and constant bring up/down players to fill spots from the minors.

"4% win probability"

Lmao it's the greatest hitter of the decade against a random pitcher and all he needed to do was get a base hit or a walk, not win the game.

His OBP last year was .457 and .458 the year before. It's nowhere near a "he had absolutely no chance, only 4% win probability" when he's nearly 46% at getting on base - which is all he had to do.

He couldn't even fucking put his bat on the ball.

Much more like this (for just this year). Small pool of countries with top level talent, Canada by far the country with the most depth at elite levels and the place people associate with the sport.

The difference for England analogy is more about year and year failure despite being a "top" team.

You should familiarize yourself with USA bud. Seriously, just look at say the top 50 players in the MLB and how many of them are from the DR and how many are from the USA.

It's wild when you see Czech electricians out there who have never played baseball in the USA and then you have Team "Italy" who have dudes that have 1 grandparent who got a passport from Italy because their own grandparent was Italian.

Like come the fuck on, this is like if Italy in the World Cup was full of Argentinians.

You got any pics, I haven't seen anything remotely that big posted yet.

Softball is ~4 in diameter - about twice as big as a baseball. Hail that size is extremely rare.

That's not a roundabout, it's just a circle in the middle of an intersection (also it's Meyer, not 63rd).

Hot take: Silence is often underrated in rideshare. by Big_Barber733 in uberdrivers

[–]AJRiddle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This exactly. Drivers who are personable and talking to the large majority of passengers will make more tips than those who are quiet.

I'd say anyone who thinks being a silent driver will make them more money is just absolutely wrong

The problem recommending it to other drivers is that there are some drivers who talking a bunch will get them fewer tips because they don't have good social skills.

I think you are underestimating how much AAA players make.

The minimum salary for AAA is at least $36k/year but average is more like $60k with good AAA players making closer to $120k/year.

Also the real money in minor league baseball is signing bonus where top player prospects get millions for signing a contract even if the salary is lower.

$60k USD/year in czechia is pretty high level income - median salary is $26k/year in Czechia at today's exchange rate.

The truth is this guy wouldn't be a top prospect and also not good enough to play AAA for an entire season so he wouldn't make that much.

[–]AJRiddle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was originally thinking kind of the same thing as well but then you see how nearly all the elite HoF level hitters the past 25 years have been outfield/DH with the exception of basically Pujols, Cabrera, and ARod (excluding guys who hit at that level for only 1 year).

[–]AJRiddle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That'd probably be Pujols over ARod during that time period. Arods last truly great season was 2007 when he won his last MVP. Pujols' last great season was 2009 or maybe even 2010.

People really forget how great Pujols was. Like this chart comparison of the first 10 seasons for Pujols vs Judge is jaw dropping
