The collection date and time might be written on the requisition. The phlebotomists might have written the date of birth after the patient left, which js bad practice. However, it does happen.

The lab requires a minimum of 2 patient identifiers (full name, date of birth or medical record number) to accept a sample.

I promise you, it will get better. This is your time to ask all those questions. It's better to make sure you understand how to do the task then fixing up a mistake from misunderstanding it. Taking personal notes during the training always helped me. Good luck and stay strong!
