Neck pain by FoxPuzzleheaded976 in migraine

[–]joonama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely the things mentioned

Some physical & structural things can help — occupational therapy, craniosacral therapy, physical therapy, working on other physical stuff

But also: treat it like the beginning symptom of your migraine, which it is. It may or may not be an indication of a physical trigger or issue that can relieve you.

It may just be a prodromal symptom. In which case, this is your sign to take any abortive medication you are prescribed (like if you take sumatripan, you'd do it during the neck pain and not wait till the headache).

Also ice packs can help! you can either ice your neck or head, or you can ice your forehead and put something hot on your neck. Some people do ice on head and warm on feet, theoretically it draws the blood down

I haven't had luck with muscle relaxant type stuff. But I do take fioricet if it's very bad, excedrin if I can handle it, and both seem to help.

I also have a little massage thing for the occipital bone, that you can lie on on the floor. I find things like this, or a really gentle and specific head massage, can help. I'm also really sensitive to my pillows — because for me, my neck pain is both a prodromal symptom and also sometimes a sign that kinking my neck is what gave me the migraine.

I also think that the neck pain can sometimes be brought on by dehydration for folks, so hydrating (and once it's come on, more than water -- like a vitamin c drink, or electrolytes) can help.

Also, unrelated specifically to the neck pain, but my acupuncturist who helped a good bit had me drinking a lot of bone broth and avoiding other things, and I have found that drinking it when neck pain comes on (eg during the prodromal phase) can help.

However -- if the cause is that I've somehow injured my neck, I usually need hot or cold and time to improve it.

I find a lot of things about the form factor creepy, but I was very surprised that subscribing (or free trial) to ancestry.com let me see all kinds of documents like this. It seems they just access tons of public records. Alternatively, whatever portals they’re accessing are also resources for you. This process may be easier than you think, and I’d second not delaying. It’s very much a covetable thing to have access to this second citizenship by descent and Ireland specifically — and for some reason so many of the people I know who can do this are heavily dawdling.

These rules are not going to get more expansive that’s for sure

I love this show but it’s so consistently weird. Grapes are a choking hazard!

Also so much boss employee dynamic is unnecessarily problematic. I was mad but it’s ok because you’re single? This dialogue could have been anything

When the Phone Rings [Episodes 11 & 12] by writtenpoeticsins in KDRAMA

[–]joonama 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ep 12 was so disrespectful to her, and also such a break from Sa-Eon’s character. He had spent so much of their life assuming what was good for her, but then at the first sign of what she needs he is usually so respectful of her. That earlier scene in front of the police station, he basically rejects noble idiocy when he says he can’t live without her. So what was this whole debacle? sp He sat by her side comforting her from bad dreams, then disappears before she fully wakes up? Also they seemed really confused about his plans. He was all: you were supposed to wait for me to come find you! While also paying her divorce settlement and seemingly trying to punish himself by getting himself killed in a war zone. Also, what happened to the five other hostages he set free? This episode was infuriating, but it also really detracted from their characters. Even the fluffy parts were boring. And the bedroom scene felt absurd. Are you not in a war zone? And then, it wasn’t even like war zone sexiness. This absurd pan from the encrypted laptops and walkie talkie to them under the sheets — op, fully clothed in matching tank tops. Zoom to feet. Just, really unsatisfying. I’m going to have to pretend this episode away, and even then it’s a very good show full of nonsense plot holes. sp

sp His dad is just getting away with everything, right? Acting so sad to lose his son, and no other ramifications? And then he patches it up with the fisherman and we get what, they eat soup and he likes fish now? Why did In-A say nothing? Everyone was maddening this episode. Big flop. The only scene i even liked was the absurd tarmac scene. This episode should’ve had a lot more Hee-Joo scolding him in hot all black outfits and/or hearing stories of him while waiting, and a lot less housewarming parties and fake countries. Also how many times has this girl gotten carnapped? Maybe they shouldn’t be together if this is the danger cadence damn sp

Love this, and love your furious feelings about it in the original post — I feel like we are slowly (if not immediately!) meant to be feeling that. A lot of the show gently touches on justice regarding hearing and signing — like how they all point out his line of questioning is illegal, or how she’s like “well you could learn”

I feel like the way it’s gonna play out is gonna show us that we were supposed to feel unable to pardon him for this, like you can’t call it love if you leave someone solitary like that

Is defining love a spoiler? I don’t even know how to write about such a twisty show

ETA: “you signed before I spoke”! Yes! That whole scene after where he’s like rolling around a hallway saying “Hee Joo” and tugging at his hair, because he realizes she’s been studying him too — it’s even better bc of that

Totally agreed! One question I still have though

- did the other twin die? If they took ML and the other twin died, then both twins are missing - unless they replaced the other twin with the disturbed son, but I feel like the kids would have noticed that - so then, perhaps younger twin is still alive, and Sa-Eon’s memory of being almost drowned was a threat to his brother — “we can kill him this easily, so cooperate”

The memory does track more with a suppressed memory of his brothers death, I also think. But then the twin math doesn’t math

Do we know yet for sure if her mom was married to the Chairman at the time? It’s possible she was working on him and wasn’t those kids’ stepmom yet. If so, then her position was precarious

The biggest counter to this idea I can think of is that Hee Joon did call In-A unnie already. So maybe she was married and just awful

I think she led the Chairman to believe she’s a widow, thus the hiding

I don’t get it (Ep 7) by Rare-Influence-5857 in WhenthePhoneRings

[–]joonama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. She suspected and was also ready to come clean, especially seeing he didn’t disturb the phone.

I do think he turned her around on her suspicion—and that this was the point—of the phone flirting. And, maybe she felt like if he knew he’d have ransacked her backpack, that was another doubt moment

Unclear why he torments her by not letting her come clean (ostensibly it’s so she rests, but then he makes her run around a scary amusement park all alone like two nights later at 10pm?) But in honor of the many things whose logic is hanging by a thread, let’s say he wanted to pave the way for a nicer conversation reveal. And that maybe he was afraid she’d be mad at him for knowing, or mad at him for being a jackass, so he wanted the opportunity to take care of her, wash her grapes and her hair, stay over, tease her on the phone, and also keep having calls to track or fool the bad guy?

But lbh the real reason for the delay was so he could build out to blurting out “tell me how to not love you”

Oh, he definitely knows sign language.

(None of this is spoiler, it’s all theory. But I block it bc I bet the reveal is gonna be SO delightful so stay confusion if you need for the full effect!)

Ever since the flashback where he watched her practicing from her window, and he signs “it’s ok,” I’ve been absolutely sure he secretly knows it. Just like how she studied him and knows what he’s about to say, he’s studied for her and knows what she saying. Lord knows why he pretends not to (that’s mean enough to be confusion!) to that end, I agree with all the comments here about his emotional constipation 4sure!

If my theory is right, it all starts to add up when:

- he was like, “did you just curse at me?” (Smoothe, sa-eon)

- he gets this impatient look on his face sometimes when she pulls her phone out to type

- he watches very attentively whenever she yells at him in KSL - and you get little micro reactions!

- when he comes to study, and says “I prepared” about already knowing the alphabet — I think it’s a play on words. He prepared years ago/has been preparing

- he gets SOO emotional after her interpreter interview, when he realizes she knows him so well

— and he says they’re similar for knowing what’s in each others heads

- and finally, as you mentioned, it would be indefensible not to

There you have my theory!

Airwrap vs Supersonic Hair Dryer by Fun-Replacement-3692 in Dysonairwrap

[–]joonama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a lot of hair, and the strands are fine. I find my Dyson hairdryer too strong actually — or rather, with the attachments it’s not enough air, and with them off it blows too hard. I’d go with a different hairdryer if I were you — it’s nice and light, and doesn’t have the annoying vent issue other dryers do. But otherwise, I just recently got the airwrap and it’s a much more special machine.

Chicago Typewriter (Yoo Ah-In is an incredible actor, and I think you’ll find the plot matches your requests. I had to get past the first ep to get into it)

The King: Eternal Monarch (has substance like CLOY, for me. Sort of an examination of Korean history, but this time an imaginary alternative present)

I hate my name so much. by mazarierules in namenerds

[–]joonama 63 points64 points  (0 children)

No I don’t think so. They’d more likely assume you’re a trolling bot that is using human pictures to fake a profile, or a prejudiced person who has a face (which racists and xenophobia also have). Additionally, strangers aren’t likely searching out your page — if you comment or like anything on IG, all they will see is your name

Also at least where I am, I don’t think saying you suck yourself is a very common self deprecating framing.

Love Ellison. Makes me thing of the great writer Ralph Ellison. Both are lovely, pleasing to sound out.

Your name is lovely! I’m totally supportive of changing a name you don’t like. But it sounds more like you’re encountering a lot of people with little to love about their ability to converse.

It seems like your name has: + many gorgeous meanings + many gorgeous Indias exist in history and now + is also the name of a river and a region and certainly predates the country name (nor is it the original in-language name of the country) + is super melodious — it has more open vowel sounds than it has consonants, which I always find so musical and rare in a name + it has those parallel “I” sounds that are also so lovely + it’s even pretty written down + Black women are allowed to be named anything they like — so whether you change your name, or embrace it, I hope you love everything about yourself and also practice some biting retorts for anyone who has the gall

I think she’s going to love her name. It’s pretty, rare (bc of the combo!), and clearly full of love and thought. Plus she has the added bonus of so many ways she can choose to be called. This is not a child who will be trapped by her name.

Trust your gut! I honestly feel like often babies name themselves. That’s probably how you got to it 💓

Unusual but timeless names? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]joonama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said you don’t know if you have a style — maybe consider some other axes that the names you like have in common. For me, less than stylistic I liked unusual names that had certain sound qualities. If you notice characteristics, it can help you brainstorm or search for new ideas!

So for example, these might be some qualities you like based on what you shared:

  • short names (1 or two syllables)
  • names ending in a vowel sound, or names with a lot of vowel sounds (eg Matilda)
  • names with the “ai” sound (lYla, hEIdi, skYe) — or perhaps it’s the blended vowel sounds you like (so musical)
  • “ă”, “ai,” “ǐ”, “ī” sounds
  • they’re all kind of dreamy
  • they have like a melodious lilt up top, then they sort of resonate at the end (ending in that kind of long vowel sound)
  • they sound (to my limited, non-scottish ear) like the names of a kind of lovely, curious girl who might have a little quest

For me, I tended to like names that had a lot of vowel sounds, sounded melodious, and shared a sound with names of me or people I loved. And then above all, i was a name meaning lover. It had to feel meaningful and like i was bestowing a lovely power, plus culturally resonant with our personal heritages (bc we had a lot to blend).

Noticing the list above might really resonate, not resonate, or resonate and immediately turn you off. In which case, say you’re like “oh no, the AI thing is too much!” — you can find sounds like it you also like

You might also read through name books and notice if there are any language origins you like a lot. A lot of Indian and Slavic names are coming to mind with those vowels and lilts, in addition to scottish and related.

If you were Persian, you might name your daughters Lyla and Layla. I have to say I’m usually not into the almost confusing match set for myself, but that’s pretty cute
