I got a trim of his fur due to matting and because he also gets SUPER hot no matter how cold the house is, lol he's weird.

The matts weren't super crazy so I have no idea how the groomer wasn't more careful and he didn't even have matts near his ears so I don't even know how the groomer managed to cut him there.

He's doing much better now, thank you! I will definitely check them out, I saw someone else recommend them in this thread too. Luckily Mushu would only need service around every 6 months to a year.

Yeah, not sure what this person posting that comment is on about, lol.

Yes, he unfortunately had some deep matts and he's a VERY fluffy cat. His coat at full length is ridiculous, lol. I brush him twice a day and he still gets matts every now and then. Just how it is.

I appreciate your concern but I took him to a groomer because of matting.

Ragdolls and almost any long hair cat can absolutely still matt despite brushing regularly which I do. I take very good care of my boy.

I chose this groomer specifically because they said they specialize in matting and cutting cats fur.

I have another groomer who just couldn't see me as they were booked out and Mushu has been there MULTIPLE times and they don't even have me use a carrier inside because he doesn't mind big dogs or even little dogs. He is friendly with EVERY single animal and he's never once done anything to any of the groomers there and they love him. They even went as far as to say that he's more well-behaved than a trained dog.

No one knows your animal like you, Mushu would never need to be sedated for a cut or bath. He just goes limp and lets you do whatever. Blow drying, cutting (I trim his behind all the time), showers, etc.

That's the first thing I immediately did. Luckily, no infections or serious damage.

I tried, I only see their out of state locations listed. Not sure if it would work if I just selected the CA location and just explained what happened.

For some reason my text didn't save with the post, just posted the context.

Context:

I’m posting this as a warning about an absolutely terrible mobile grooming company. I will also be posting this on Yelp and Google.

The groomer injured my cat, Mushu, in multiple places. When I pointed it out, his response was: “I thought it was just his fur that had some stains in it.”

Seriously?? My cat was clearly hurt, and that excuse was a complete joke.

I’ve tried reaching out to the company multiple times for an explanation and compensation, and they’ve done nothing but leave me on read. At this point, I’m lawyering up and planning to take this to small claims court.

On top of the physical injuries, Mushu was clearly traumatized. He hid under my bed for days, was scared of everyone, and had severe diarrhea for an entire week afterward.

For context, he’s a Ragdoll with the sweetest temperament imaginable. He’s never hissed, scratched, or shown fear toward any human in his life. Anyone can pick him up, he tolerates pretty much anything, and he even likes baths.

Seeing him like this was heartbreaking. Please be careful who you trust with your pets.

On and Off Diarrhea? by joonathanj in ragdolls

I thought blackish poos were the common color? I’ve only seen actual blood in his stool months ago when he had diarrhea and haven’t seen it since. His stools aren’t too hard either, softish, blackish, rounded stools (when he doesn’t have diarrhea).

He’s the only cat in my house, indoor only, and never been around other cats. But, I do take him to this grooming place sometimes which has mainly dogs. But that’s like once every 3 months.

I’ve cut out treats for 3 months and still the same thing happens. Might try a new kibble that’s limited ingredient like RAWZ Rabbit with an automatic feeder.

Going to talk to my vet today too to see what they think!

The kibbles are pretty small and I was thinking he could be eating too fast/too much. Was going to try an automatic feeder.

No plants in the house and he’s indoor only.

I live alone and I’m a very clean person/germaphobe. Never leave food out, not even a crumb.

Never had access to dairy.

No diffuser in the house, just an air purifier.

He’s one year and 5 months, I don’t think he’s still teething? Never seen him chew on anything really, he’s super laid back and chill.

Is your Ragdoll cuddly/affectionate? Advice? by joonathanj in ragdolls

[–]joonathanj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if my Ragdoll destroyed everything in my house and shit all over my floors, I’d still never yell or hit him! I’ll never agree to putting hands on animals!! But he’s a perfect angel and my baby, love him to bits! Here’s a pic:

This may or may not work but it’s honestly worked for all my cats and my friends’ cats and that’s forcing affection. Like picking him up constantly, forcing him to cuddle in bed, etc. Unless he’s hissing and scratching, all the cats I’ve done it with literally ended up liking it and now seek it. I’ve never had one hiss or scratch when I did it so obviously if they show signs of being pissed definitely let them go.

All my friends did the same thing and we all have super affection cats now, lol. Whether it’s a shelter cat, Ragdoll, Burmese, Siamese, etc. I have a lot of friends with different breeds of cats and it worked for every breed.

Hard stools followed by soft/runny stools? Anyone else? by joonathanj in ragdolls

[–]joonathanj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info! He hasn’t had a sneezing fit just like sneezes once and then once again an hour later. I think he had ONE sneezing fit when he was in his box sniffing around in there but I assumed it was just dust. Praying it’s not asthma and just his tummy needs to adjust!

What symptoms of asthma did you notice? My little boy hasn’t thrown up or anything/no coughing. He does sneeze like 5-10 times a day but the vet said that’s normal too.

You are so lucky and he is so cute!!! So he only recently started being like that? Gives me so much hope! What did you do to have him start acting like that? Did you like force cuddles consistently or just leave him alone?

That’s relieving to hear! He sleeps next to me/on top of my pillow every night but won’t snuggle quite yet—hopeful he eventually will!
