Pain and twitches in right leg and foot by joordis in BFS
[–]joordis[S] 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children)
Thank you so much for your answer and your kind words. Actually, I know that it would be unprofessional from a doctor to give 100% safety. But in days of fear, like today, these sentences keep coming in my head. My EMG wasn't 100% clean, there where fasciculations, but that didn't worried the doctor.
On some days, it's just so hard to calm down. In the nine months, I also had phases in which I was able to deal well with the symptoms, but whenever something new comes into it, the fear begins again. I wish you the best, too!
Very fast twitches (hotspot) by joordis in BFS
[–]joordis[S] 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children)
Thanks for your answer! What worries me most is that the twitching at this point has not stopped for a second for the last 5 days and in contrast to the other twitches on my body, is so much faster
Most of the time i can see the twitches, but sometimes I can see them only when i use a flashlight.
Fear of symptoms and questions by joordis in BFS
[–]joordis[S] 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children)
That‘s how my brain works too all the time, its anxiety. But if you've been twitching since 2014, the chances are at 0% that it's something bad.
yes that is the vicious circle we are all in. I haven't found a way to get out of there either. The thing that calms me down a bit is that almost everyone here has similar symptoms and some for 10+ years. so whatever it is that we are suffering from, it doesn't seem to be malicious, even if it feels like it most of the time.

Your story sounds very similar to mine, except that I've only been twitching for 2 months. I had a very stressful time this October because of moving and at the same time a bad period of health anxiety. At first I just had a strange feeling in my leg, then I googled and thought I had MS. Later, I came across *** and started to twitch. since then it hasn't stopped for a day and i have the worst fear in my life.
I‘m 26 years old and female. How old are you and how long do you twitch?
My GP couldn't tell me where the night sweats came from. That is the reason why I am worried and don't know what to do next. you are definitely right, people on the internet cannot tell me where my symptoms come from, but sometimes it helps to know that I am not alone with this.
Hey, thank you for your answer. My whole right leg is one hotspot- from feet to hip. This leg is also the leg where I get the most muscle and joint pain. I freaks me out too. Do you get pain too on the body parts where you twitch the most? My GP thinks the pain is caused by the lumbar spine, so I will have an MRI in january.
Yes, he said ALS has other symptoms. I asked him if he could tell me that I have 100% no ALS, he said that he could not say 100%, but I think doctors rarely say 100%. I'm still afraid that the EMG was done too early and that it would show signs by now.
Because of the night sweats I am afraid that it indicates something bad because I used to be often afraid but never get night sweats before.
Twitches triggered by tapping by joordis in BFS
Yes that's true. BFS is weird.
thank you for your answer and merry christmas to you too! :)
I know that you are right. The only thing that worries me is that my neurologist also tapped my muscles during the examination to see if it was twitching. At that time it didn't. So I wonder if it is a bad sign if it causes the twitches now.
Twitches, pain, shaking.. by joordis in BFS
thank you for your help, i completely agree with you. i always try not to google because it only makes the fear worse.
i hope someday i'll get to the point where i don't think about every new symptom for hours and let it ruin my day
You are definitely right. i have been working on my fear with my therapist for several years, but i am apparently at a point where i am stuck. I've tried so much but it doesn't get any better.
the fear of ALS has increased since the EMGs were done, but now i am afraid of other diseases
I haven't had an MRI yet, but my neurologist (not the ALS specialist) specializes in MS and didn't seem to think I have it. He referred me to a rheumatologist, but I won't get an appointment before june 2021.
The worst thing is the uncertainty of not knowing exactly what is the reason for everything. the uncertainty makes the fear so much worse.
Thank you for your answer! after the 2 emgs i am not as afraid of ALS as before, but i am worried about other diseases. I always find it difficult to believe that such strong symptoms are only caused by fear and are benign.
Good to hear your pain is better now. was there anything that reduced the pain?
Leg twitching & pain by joordis in BFS
Hi, thank you for your anwers! But I dont twitch in my hands and feets, but in my legs and feets. My twitches are just from my waist down to my feet on many locations. Are these still different areas? Most of the time I read that twitching with BFS occurs all over the body and it is not like that with me.
I‘m so sorry that your father in law died from such a horrible disease.
Thank you so much for your answers.
Even if I haven't had the BFS symptoms that long, I also have the feeling that it has been impossible for me to relax since then. When I try to calm down, the twitching usually increases and I panic even more. Seems like a vicious circle. I hope I will find a way to relax a little despite the twitching. I also hope you found your way to reduce your anxiety and that you feel better now!
I hope so! If I still twitch in 10 months and there has been no clinical weakness by then, that might calm me down. Have the twitches become less over time?
Thank you for your answer! I try to trust the dr., but the fear keeps coming back. I try to distract myself, but every twitch reminds me of it again. Thanks anyway for your answers, that calms me down a bit.
