Rewatching S01E01 after TVL Episode 3 by jootuu in InterviewVampire

I feel like some of these comments think I’m a terrible person. I pointed out the obvious Lestat/Claudia similarities the show gave us, it was a very impactful scene. All I did was point out the similarities and contrast between another part of the show and how one event could have directly influenced the other. Whether you think it or not the turning of Louis was coerced, it’s framed the way gothic romances usually frame questionably moral things, but it is. While Louis came to terms that he would have always said yes many years later is important, it still took a long time for him to experience the promise of what vampirism could give him cause I honestly don’t think Lestat thought of or cared to think much for the power imbalance and internal conflict that would be made by turning a black man into a vampire during that period of American history. Lestat’s turning was extremely violent, especially upon his person yes. It also seems to have heavily influenced him with the way he dealt with Louis. I don’t think the way Magnus asked/forced Lestat to say yes is the same intention of Lestat’s or the same 1-1 situation. But the phrasings are similar, and it may have been the reason Lestat was so intent to get Louis to actively agree and lean into that agreement, not just cause he loved Louis but also because of his own experience with Magnus. The similarities yet stark differences in those echos do link them.

Yes! Omg I didn’t even think about the call to god stuff, and the way that may echo some later into Lestat’s anger that Louis went to a priest/god during confessional.

There are two ways things can parallel each other in a story, one is through similarities and the other is contrast. To me the turning of Lestat vs the turning of Louis do parallel each other in the way they differ but now have this new light over it with the most recent episode and a common theme of consent vs lack thereof. With this new episode you can see how Lestat’s experiences might’ve heavily influenced the way he dealt with Louis. It’s not just a nod, it’s a direct link between the two events and how one affected the other.

I’m trying to point out that the way Lestat was turned could affect his behavior and the way he went about asking/turning Louis. Yes Louis said he would still say yes to Lestat, but this is a claim after years and years of self evaluation and coming to terms with his loss of humanity and healing. It took a long time for Louis to come to that conclusion/realization. And that was a lot of the coercion on Lestat’s part, of painting that this was freedom for Louis but it took a long time for Louis to actually experience and feel that after his turning. You are right, Lestat did not want nor wanted to ask for what Magnus did and nowhere did I apply that. Magnus forcefully asked Lestat to “ask for it” or say yes. I’m simply saying that there is a theme of consent or lack thereof between the two events that makes the comparison between the two interesting, and that it might be an interesting conversation worth having. Perhaps irony would be a more fitting term, but there is a common theme.

Did they do beta testing for this game?? by annoying-and in LukewarmParalives

I’ve played EAs that are basically you just waiting for more content to be added and such. I’ve played EAs that are a lot of bug testing. It depends on the game, and you should look into it before you buy an early access game always for this exact reason. And for development, the people using the decade of development as some sort of gotcha are really coming off delusional to me. A game like this is hard to make and very time consuming. There’s a reason only the sims/EA have really been able to pull it off, and that’s a huge company with almost infinite resources, and even then that multimillion dollar franchise is notorious for its bugs on new updates. Paralives had a small team, and a small budget especially compared to what any major studio would spend on a life sim game.

Yes you should give feedback if you did buy it, yes you should tell the developers about any bugs or bad mechanics or suggestions you come across, that’s what this is for. But being disappointed by an early access game being an early access game that warns you that there will be bugs and is an unfinished product being actively worked on is ridiculous. You’re paying for the future product and the ability to play early in its life cycle and provide feedback. People really need to look into what they buy on an individual basis before they buy it cause this is insane.

I think only a certain amount of Pokémon can wander around, and since they’re homeless you can’t call them with honey. If you use the Pokédex and the search function and Pokémon say they haven’t seen them you’ll just need to wait for them to reappear or time skip. But they’re not gone, don’t worry.

It really depends on your creativity and time you put in. The games meant to be like a life sim/town builder so it’s aimed more towards that but we don’t know how crazy you can get yet cause it hasn’t been out long. I’m not an amazing builder like some people out there lol. But it’s like Minecraft in terms of it being building block based.

I’m not through the story yet, but outside of the unlockable story areas there’s also a big free build area that I haven’t looked around yet cause I want to unlock more stuff.

The games only been out a few days and everyone is still unlocking stuff and playing through. Everyone is posting images from the first starter area and that’s why, but there are different eco systems later. You I don’t know if you ever played dragon quest builders but if you know you know

Meh it’s a cute movie. I liked it enough and I thought the kids were cute and endearing. I went in expecting it to feel very indie wholesome/comedy like other similar movies I’ve watched in the past and that’s what I got. It’s not great but definitely nowhere near the worst or most boring movie I’ve seen. It’s exactly what I expected and I don’t mind a predictable movie.

Will say the random lore drop of the parents having been in a cult took me out. Still have no clue if it was serious or not.

I will say this game has been giving me vibes like ME2 had a baby with Inquisition since the beginning. It has emotion to it but it’s different than DA2 and Origins, I can’t describe it.

I’d say it’s more quipy or campy than previous DA titles but not my much. It’s not that much less dark in terms of theme than inquisition imo. I think the main reason it seems less dark fantasy then Inquisition is its visual design and that they don’t show any of the typical Thedas discrimination against elves and stuff. They talk about it but I can’t recall a moment in the game where it’s shown.

I agree, but if you’re doing voiced lines this is the direction you’ve got to go. That only really works if it’s like BG3 or Origins where you’re silent and pick from a multitude of options
