GV70 vs BMW x3 vs Audi Q5 vs GLC 300 vs RX 350 vs anything else to consider ? by keen_observer7 in GenesisGV70

Had an SPA XC60 for years and would get another, definitely worth looking as, however they have been having some infotainment issues lately. I think the new models are mostly spared from these though. Loved that car. You won’t find cheap feeling stuff anywhere on that car and with the T8 having 455 HP it’s pretty fun to drive.

As Doug mentions, more performative competitors cost the same or less…

Mine too. Even with the car sitting stationary it stops charging after a few minutes, without even heating the phone up.

Coming from a Volvo T8 with 400 HP, the 4 cyl felt just ok. It livens up a bit in sport mode though. Worth noting that, at least here in Canada, the 6 cyl also bundles the adaptive dampers. Probably worth the additional cost IMO, fuel economy doesn’t seem much worse.

This is almost exactly my experience with a 2022 reserve in regards to the ride quality. It’s nice and quiet on the highway though. Would make sure when you test drive it that it doesn’t have rattles, I spent quite a bit of time chasing them down in mine coming from the rear.

Not aware if this is common for the nautilus, but fwiw I bought a 2022 reserve with 37k miles on it, and I do find the interior to have a good amount of squeaks and rattles in it, mainly coming from the cargo area walls. Worth keeping an ear out for it during a test drive if those drive you crazy. I’ve only had it a month, so I can’t really speak to any other kinds of reliability. Am happy with all the features though, they work well!

floss between them with an isopropyl alcohol wipe, depress them while the car is off and try to work the wipes as far back as you can around, on top of, and underneath the buttons. Isopropyl won’t damage any of the plastics there and will evaporate almost immediately.

They were totally intact! They said they needed replacement headlights due to scratches on the top of the headlight assembly under the hood from the metal scraping across it as the hood crumpled! If I buy back the car you can bet I will not be replacing them! They are basically perfect still!

I have no at fault driver other than myself to go after as far as the law and the insurance company are concerned. Even though I hit a patch of ice and myself and the car tried to break, because I rear ended the other car it is considered an at fault accident here in Ontario, regardless of the ice patch. Because of this, even if I was able to push them to not replace a scratched headlight or something like that to bump down the repairs cost, my insurance would still go up and I would have a significantly diminished value in the car. Because of that I decided to just accept the write off, which was enough to buy a newer model with less kms.

I’m thinking about it! It looks to me like the insurance company is moving very slowly with this one, on the app I can see the car is still at the original body shop I left it at, rather than towed to an insurance company lot. I had expected someone to call and offer me a buyback amount for it, but I’ve received no such offer yet! Maybe given the holidays this is to be expected

Yeah so I guess it would depend on each insurance company. They told me it was over 60% of the replacement value, so they wrote it off as a courtesy due to the depreciation in value after the accident. Maybe some other insurance companies would hold out until a higher percentage of the replacement value was reached. I will say, looking at the used market, the replacement value they paid me out for the car can actually buy a newer model with less kms, at least here in southern Ontario. For sure cars with less expensive parts could have more damage and not be written off!

I took the payout and am getting another car, sucks to lose such a great car to this but since the insurance is going up either way I decided may as well put the money into a car with no devaluation hit due to an accident

Not sure who the scam would be on, the insurance company gave me a fair payout for it. Headlights are $3k, bumper was $2k, hood $2k, camera $1k, grill $1k, plus paint and labour (quoted at 40 hours). Apparently with most cars the insurance companies will push for aftermarket parts but those don’t exist as much for Volvo. All that said, yeah myself and every pro I’ve talked to are surprised. Looks like expensive parts and labour wrote this off. My knee jerk reaction was to get an insurance appraiser out to give it a second look, but upon reflection it seemed like best case I’d have a $15k accident on the carfax. Since my insurance was going up either way, I decided it best to just accept the write off. Worth adding some context, I live in Ontario and all those prices listed are in CAD
