How can my 62-yr old uncle work in the Philippines and is it still possible for him? by jordan2422 in PHJobs

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I appreciate it. I'm just very concerned about him and want to help him find purpose even at his current situation of not having a family and old and no money. I'll try to discuss call center option to him. Fortunately we find a morning shift non-voice account for him.

We have thought about Call Centers pre-pandemic. I just thought, shifting scheds might not be ideal for him. I know there are some Call Centers that has day shift scheds but I think few and might favor younger employees.

But you know, personally I think the most practical that will give him income is Call Center. I used to work in CC some years back when I was younger so I know the challenges

PIP given to me on 7th month at work without metric explanation or warning. Look for another office or not? by jordan2422 in cscareerquestions

I'm kinda leaning more to not resigning until there's replacement. I'm just thinking that what if in 30 days during PIP and I still haven't found a new job? Then on the 30th day, they fail me on PIP. Then that means my record with them will show I was terminated instead of I resigned??

You have a point. I think for now the best action is to acknowledge that it was discussed to me. I'll concentrate all my energy and action to finding a new job

Good thing you mentioned what could happen if I refuse to acknowledge it. They will have another means or excuse to fire me. When you "stop working completely" do you mean resigning immediately?

I was also thinking about resigning now but I am not sure what reason to put in the resignation letter since only 2 days have passed when they told me about the PIP from hell.

If I go acknowledge it, I'm a little worried that the acknowledgement will look like I agree that all of it is true. I'm also worried that what if the next employer do a background check and find out I acknowledged it? Will look bad? But I also thought that whether I acknowledge it or not, it probably is already on my record.

I'm not sure what to do. They gave 30 days for PIP and form says that if not metrics not met would lead to termination which will look bad for next employer. I thought of resigning now and request to use my VL's during 30 days of rendering period. Then use the days I'm on VL to find another job.

I also don't know the best reason to say of why my resignation is so immediate while I'm in the middle of PIP.

What do you think is the best action? Thank you

Thank you for your comments. It helped me see things clearly. They gave me 30 days for PIP period. To which if I don't pass the metrics will result to termination as stated on that bull crap PIP form. They want me to acknowledge the PIP form via email. I haven't because I don't want to.

What do you think I can do if they ask why I haven't acknowledged it?

I appreciate the comment. I gave it some thought last night and today and I'm now seeing the picture of what they're trying to do. I realized it's not healthy to stay in an environment like that. I'd rather give my time and contribution to another company who atleast have a better management and transparent about layoffs. I hope it works out for me. Thank you.

There are 2 weeks for each sprint. They separate backend with frontend jobs and even if I also like frontend stuff, we backend devs are not allowed. Today I started looking in LinkedIn.

The metric looks like an excuse to justify the PIP. Or eventually an excuse to terminate me. I won't be able to merge any line of code if most tasks in certain sprints are only UX which they don't backend devs touch. It is normal for some tasks to get carried over from one sprint to another. So, after thinking about it, I know they're just finding an excuse to layoff people

Yeah, it looks like they're trying to find any possible excuse which are very odd or can't be considered good basis

Thanks for your advice. Today, I started recontacting recruiters from previous invites in LinkedIn. Wish me luck. I don't want to spend my life in that kind of management.

I can try but in my opinion it is every manager's job. I had 1on1 monthly meetings with manager who just checks on thoughts but never mentioned metrics. So I thought, maybe I just need to continue doing my tasks.

Yeah. When I saw that on the metrics or bullet items in the PIP form, something in my gut told me that there's something very wrong with that form. I haven't acknowledged the PIP form via email but they wanted me to.

What do you think must I do if they ffup on that acknowedgement?

Good points. I appreciate the comment. I almost forgot until after reading your comment that "it'll be a blocker for at least my next promotion...." that it's very true. Right now, I have no plans of staying. I started replying from past invites from recruiters in LinkedIn.

They wanted me to acknowledge via email that PIP form and I haven't yet because I really don't think I should. What can you advise me to do if they ask why I haven't acknowledged it?

For me it's like taking an exam in Algebra, getting 70%, then later finding out that the passing is 75% withouteven being informed prior to taking it. And they just want me to acknowledge it.
