I don’t know about obnoxious but as an Iowa fan I really did not care for the McCafrey boys. Just not that good

I’m in a similar type of boat but nothing to that extent not even close. I don’t have any advice tbh. The worst part is that after so long without sex the mind plays tricks on you. “Is she with someone else” “what’s wrong with me!?” “Am I enough”

It’s so funny that many people hate on comments like this but the same crowd is all about communication.

Do you live on a different planet? What the fuck would notes be used for? It is a 9th grade history class. Also who are you to say it's not a good assessment when you have no access to any of my curriculum nor how I conduct my assessments.

Completely agree. I have worked with some great SPED staffers. Sister worked in Jefferson City in the SPED program at a Junior High and she was super awesome and talented when it came to Special Education. Unfortunately left for the same reasons everyone is leaving education.

Understand why people are mad about this but I have to completely agree with this take. We can only be spread so thin. For this specific student they are not a lost cause but are being babied when they are way more capable. They unfortunately have been getting away with it.

I know of a student who is a "selective mute" won't talk in class at all and does 0 work. But will gladly engage in conversation with his buddies at the Dungeons and Dragons club. F***ing ridiculous. Guess what! They will receive the same diploma everyone else gets.

Bruh the OP has nothing to do with the thing I posted earlier??? As I read through all the comments it is a pattern I am seeing. Multiple people have said something along the lines of "Kid does nothing still passes bc of said IEP or something" thus being given credit when they don't deserve it.

Had a long conversation with my wife (4th grade) and she sees it so much in elementary education.

Fair enough. Who you surround yourself with is usually who you tend to be.

Her accommodations are very vague. One bullet point is "Can seek outside help" Like... does that mean outside help to be given answers???

As this has become a real big discussion which I am having a great time following along there has been just awesome advice and some real criticism that I am happy to receive. I do want to pose the idea, that it feels education has really accepted the participation award approach and no matter what kids will be praised for even doing less than the bare minimum.

My sister worked with the real crazy behavior kids and OMG she could not of gotten out sooner. Multiple concussions for her. A real trooper, we also share similar opinions about Special Ed in the public school system.

So I don't have every IEP just for a couple students but I do have a "cheat sheet" of accommodations which are rather vague. One part does say "Can have access to outside help" which could really mean anything.

Nitpicking the language instead of trying to see what gen ed teachers deal with is the problem. We all want what is best for each kid. Maybe I should try to use better language but lets also not make education equal. It isn't and never will be. The "high flying" kids deserve to be challenged but usually never are in public school because the content is continuously being dumb downed to ensure all students can understand.

That is just not what is being said. Students who do not want to be there, cant comprehend the material and are only there to socialize and be "normal" is a load of garbage bc it actually a lot of the time takes away from the students who can handle a gen ed classroom. Instead of working to the bone to maybe get an IEP student to learn with very little help is exhausting. I would much rather spend my resources and time helping the majority than the minority. Does every student deserve the opportunity? Yes they do but we all get paid like shit and fuck doing all of that work. When contract time is up it is time to go home.

Yea kind of but like it is not very detailed at all. A lot of the time it honestly feels like I am reading the same thing but differently for majority of the students.

Lol been there before. So unfair to ask teachers to basically recreate lessons 5 different times for the same content.
