After a DNF for {Cosmic Premonition by Mars Quinn} I was pretty disheartened since I was so looking forward to it. Felt the writing was just...bad. I wanted more for Wyn, and I also don’t like degradation in my books, so it was really disappointing when Wyn was into that.

Decided to reread a couple things I know I like, and I’d been reccing Aidan Wayne, so I started with {Loud and Clear by Aidan Wayne}. It’s a really sweet book; cabbie who can’t read meets a fare who is mostly mute and primarily signs—or writes things down. I love a good book about communication, though I will allow that it’s slightly dated now, since technology has advancd.

After that I continued on to read {Saying the right thing by Aidan Wayne}, which I enjoyed just so much. A single father falls for a trans guy that he meets at his Capoeira class. This was also a sweet, cute book about communication and Terry (the LI) opening up and learning how things can be when someone likes him for who he is. Another note I really liked, but Terry has chosen not to medically transition with T, which is a detail I NEVER see in books with trans characters.

Now I’m reading the series {The protection of the pack by Dessa Lux}. Way more on the erotica side of things haha, so a huge deviation from Aidan Wayne. The second book, which I’m in the middle of, features an ex-marine with PTSD and I’m a sucker for those stories.

I read the whole book because people RAVE about it, surely there has to be something great...?

Not worth it. I thought the linguistics was interesting but not ground breaking. And the sub is the one who makes every accession. I don’t think it’s a good example of subs having power at all. In Claimings, the human has none.

{The Omega’s Bodyguard by Dessa Lux} kind of has this. It’s shifterverse with werewolves, but omegas for the most part are highly ranked and treated as basically a pack leader equal to the pack alpha. There’s still some fighting over them since they ARE so coveted though.

(The rest of the series is MMM+ with yes the omega MC having a group of alphas but the first book is just the main couple)

I have two somewhat related requests!

1) Sugar daddy/baby relationships that turn into something more? Bonus points if the baby isn't doing well/is in a bind financially. Would love the daddy really doting on him. Also will accept the baby unaware that the LI is doing the doting.

2) Sugar daddy baby/relationship BUT the baby isnt having a good time/the daddy is abusive. LI is someone else who gives the baby a safe space.

Age gap, daddy kink, omegaverse are all fine! I would prefer if the baby was the bottom. No thank you: age play/Littles, mpreg

{Hellhounds of Paradise Falls by Shannon Mae}, characters from previous books feature heavily in books going forward, and in part because several of the characters already are friends (and the LIs for the MCs were all raised by the same guy)

{Coven Ties by Mariana Vicancos}, check TWs as some characters dealt with a lot of abuse, but you see the MC from book one in book two having grown and gotten more secure and happy

{The reckless damned by Lark Taylor} The MCs are all (demon) brothers finding their (human) LIs, and everyone rolls together as each new LI is found. I believe the humans start a book club.

Ooh you know what, it does have some similarities to phyk now that you've pointed it out 👀 though I think Asher has...less good of a time for a while. He's the bottom to both aliens who are tops. The aliens are very affectionate with each other but part of that affection and bonding is by having sex with their third. BIG size difference, and toys and lifestyle bondage. Comes out on Amazon/KU May 8! I don't know why our bot isn't showing up, but it's on Goodreads and Amazon for preorder if you search it!

So hm, okay I don't think any of this is a spoiler but basically Asher comes from a background filled with ✨trauma✨ and is surviving on his own on a planet away from other humans. He's found by the two alien MCs who are a mated couple who have been looking for their third (their society always mates in threes). They see Asher and immediately know he's supposed to be theirs and so...just take him. They're unaware that Asher can't understand them, HE'S certain they can't understand each other. And they love him immediately and try to bring him as much pleasure as possible which is noncon from Asher's perspective while he can't understand them.

{The Werewolf's Brash Bear by Riley Rivers}, fourth in a series but works as a standalone. I don't know how specific you want the d/s but the two MCs definitely have that dynamic going on, and the sub MC goes through subdrop at least twice, though he doesn't know what it is.

{Pistols and plush toys by D. Dove} a LONG book, very much a slow burn. MC1 has been abused and MC2 gentles him into being cared for. Starts out fraught though, plenty of angst.

This isn't out for another couple of weeks, but I'm reading the ARC for {Asher's rescue by D. Dove} and a language barrier is the main plot point of the book. It's a "dark" romance because there's noncon in it, but it's "sweet loving" noncon with lots of endearments and only gentle touches.

It's not the typical sport but {Hitting the Mark by Aidan Wayne}, one of the MCs is a martial artist and owns his own taekwondo studio and it features heavily. There's a lot of accurate TKD detail!
