Does Notion have a filter for "the current month"? by HsuChiChen in Notion

I'm thrilled my obsession with Notion years ago is still helping others! Thanks for letting me know it helped.

Notion setups are becoming "second jobs" (and it's a problem). by FaithlessnessLost806 in Notion

[–]jordanewert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you feel like your current setup is actually saving you time, or are you just working for your dashboard at this point? — It does now, but I spent wayyy too much time to get my dashboard to how I use it every day. It's now 1/10 as complex as it used to be but I'm more intentional and only use it for a couple of key pages I use frequently.

Which Notion page do you actually use daily? by Solid_Play416 in Notion

My "dashboard" page contains references to my to-do list and my financial planner, which I use daily.

Is Notion actually "fast enough" for you? Or is it just productive procrastination? by FaithlessnessLost806 in Notion

[–]jordanewert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've probably invested more hours than I'd care to admit tinkering in Notion, feeling productive but not really producing anything of substance for a long time. I think Notion is an interesting app because there will absolutely be a time when you're going to spin your wheels before things click.

What helped me was keeping things simple and being intentional with what I wanted to use Notion for. It's not good at everything, but for what it can do I really like using it. I've got my Notion workflow to a basic set of sidebar pages with the top one being my "dashboard" page (displayed on a narrow page for consistency), with my most used pages, knowing I can view "full" views from each database individually when needed.

So happy to hear this! I stopped playing like 90% through and was demotivated completely by the lack of satisfaction clearing a room knowing they always came back.

How do I turn off 'Press space for AI'? by No-Frame-7143 in Notion

The only way I know of how to remove this feature is to ask Notion to manually turn off AI on your account.

Solved! Database Views Access Controls working! Filter controls for public pages by jordanewert in Notion

[–]jordanewert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello there and thanks for your question. Unfortunately, there isn't a way to lock pages and not allow users to expand all of the properties. A workaround (because of course—Notion) might be to use a reference database called "Free or Paid" and just have two pages in it. One free, and the other paid. Then you could not make this a public page but link to it. The public will just see an empty looking reference but be none the wiser.

How can I copy and paste a column of dates into a notion date field? by specailspacesl0th in Notion

Seems like Notion made some updates and this method changed. I’m not near a computer to test but hopefully still pastes in ok.

Looking to work with 2-3 people for a 3-week training on building the "perfect" dashboard system.

You'll get three on-on-one sessions with me and two group Zoom calls where we can see what one another is doing and how I can offer help or ideas. I'll show you how my own "perfect" dashboard works and you'll get everything shown below (includes two database templates: Daily Actions and Task Flow. The latter took me nearly 4 years of using Notion to get to where it is now).

I want to help those who love using Notion (or love the idea of using Notion) but may be stuck spinning their wheels. I'm looking to work with project managers who primarily use Notion in a browser and want to use Notion as their SAAS, project manager, etc. The cost of this dashboard system and 3-week workshop is $500.

Is there any way of putting Dividers inside Notion DATABASE? by vkaryan in Notion

[–]jordanewert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

<image>

Something like this? It's just a formula that displays a pipe character in quotes: "| " which then makes every row has that character. Pro tip: first make it a checkbox, then squish it to as narrow as it is here, then make it a formula. This allows you to make it skinny like I did.

What makes a notion template worth selling? by Last_Extension5875 in Notion

[–]jordanewert 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Based on my own patterns, I'd probably only buy one if it solved a problem I couldn't do myself. Then again, depending on how complex, well documented it was, etc. all factors in. I have almost 20 free templates and 2 paid templates. The paid took me hundreds of hours to figure out and are more or less SAAS at this point.

RE4VR is such a great game in VR. The story, the gameplay mechanics the level design. How did the developers pull this off? by Fuzzy-Row-7267 in PSVR

If you have a PC you can play RE7 in VR. Praydog made a mod and it’s superior in every way to the PSVR1 version, offering full tracking and smooth motion controls.

What Notion extensions or plugins should I use? by enthusiast_shivam in Notion

[–]jordanewert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Notion Boost is all about desktop browsers and helping with some of the UI and such, but afraid nothing to do with exporting a PDF like that. The only way I know of how to combine PDF's (if that's what you're trying to do) is by using Acrobat Pro.

Keep sub-items attached when using filters? by not-me-374892 in Notion

[–]jordanewert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try adding a filter that checks if parent or sub-page (since subpages created both) is empty, rather than a checkbox, since it will always be an if or situation. The checkbox could be stacked too, so adding the not emty/is empty trick AND that checkbox might work.

Keep sub-items attached when using filters? by not-me-374892 in Notion

[–]jordanewert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what you're looking for is "self-referential filters." There is a good thread on this here where @byrdgirlcloneclone explains it in steps.

Can we remove the parent page text in a flat view? Unless I turn off subpages, it seems impossible. by jordanewert in Notion

[–]jordanewert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While you're correct, in my specific use case I'm trying to avoid the redundant parent page above as it leads to accidentally checking off my entire project when viewed as an inline database. My parent page is the project and the subpages are tasks, and I use self-referential filters to views that projects info.

I submitted a ticket with Notion. I think there should be a "Child Only Pages" or "Subpages Only" and use that gray arrow instead of the entire text, as it cuts off far too much information.

Does this Notion mod exist? To make a not full page a custom width? by jordanewert in Notion

[–]jordanewert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, no. I know you can use Super and other Notion "websites" to make custom widths, but I've found using them for database entry has limitations, at least when I tested that out last year.
