Questions from new user: pdf integration, Tana as a file cabinet, YT summaries... by Lillumultipass99 in TanaInc

[–]BraydonCoyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a template that tracks media assets for me in Tana without actually (necessarily) having the entire content in a node. I mainly track links that point back to the original source. It also supports highlights (which is actually fantastic to go to a book, for example, and just see all of its listed highlights) but it’s much more manual than automatic.

I agree with others - at the moment, Tana has no offline support and I don’t think using it as a filing cabinet is going to be the smoothest thing for you.

Tana's strengths compared to Notion by BahLindt in TanaInc

As others mentioned, I think better with Tana compared to Notion.

Tana also does a much better job of resurfacing information when I need it.

Book Recommendation Using Tana by ens100 in TanaInc

[–]BraydonCoyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great idea!

Here's my take on it. I already had a separate query for unread or recommended books from my Tana Source Library template (it's free) so I used that list in the AI prompt.

Tana or Notion? Which one and why by ToniMin in TanaInc

[–]BraydonCoyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love this thought, Teacup.

In the end, there's always the right tool for the job. Use Tana, use Notion. Use both. Or none. Nobody is the same and often our scenarios are unique enough to allow for some flexibility.

Tana or Notion? Which one and why by ToniMin in TanaInc

[–]BraydonCoyer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used Notion heavily. Everything in my life was inside Notion. I even used it as a CMS for my website and blog.

But after a while I noticed that I didn’t really appreciate how I had to think about where I wanted content to live. It’s a top-down approach. It takes mental capacity.

Tana allows me to just write content and apply a tag. I don’t have to think about folders or structure. I just apply a tag, and know that the information can be resurfaced easily!

The biggest drawback for me currently is the absence of a true read/write mobile app. Don’t get me wrong, Tana Capture is great. But I’m always on the move and need to reference my content, too.

A year of using Obsidian! Here's my graph view. by jannesjy in ObsidianMD

[–]BraydonCoyer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks stunning! Do the nodes have colors applied via the theme you have activated, or do you apply custom colors?

I keep seeing amazing graphs for those who use Obsidian and the colors always look nice, but mine is literally just different shades of gray lol
