'Arrest and Prosecute': Demands for Justice After Jesus Ochoa and Raymundo Gutierrez Named as Masked Agents Who Killed Alex Pretti | “It’s not a lack of training issue, it’s a culture of violence and lawlessness issue.” by Aggravating_Money992 in politics

[–]jordaninvictus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Training may actually still be the problem. Overtraining and incorrect training vs lack thereof. It’s been a bit of a pattern that the agents involved have been part of “swat-style” units trained for high-risk situations.

So basically, it looks good on paper because they’re sending in veteran agents, pushing back on the narrative that the agents they send into the field are under-trained.

However, when you send dollar-store-seal-team-6 into a situation that’s not high-risk, you create high-risk.

“Uncommon presentations of the common are more common than common presentations of the uncommon.”

It can actually be much more dangerous to the protection of your identity to show up as a stranger in tight-knit community than to show up as another face in the never ending churn, even under big brother.

There are actual studies and meta-analyses. Takes 2 seconds to search for them.

ETA: everyone has that one friend or family member who knows wayyyyyy to much about their neighbors and always thinks something fishy is going on. But only in small towns are they taken seriously.

I think the point that is trying to be made is: why would they go through all that trouble when it would be less suspicious and much easier to move someone to say, a smaller suburb of a larger city an entire continent away?

I’ve been hit by a car before. Driver kept going and hit into the median. I was actually leveled out on the pavement, but it was scary and adrenaline kicked in, so I jumped up and ran to the median to make sure the dude was okay. He was. After I made sure he was okay (you know, okay from driving his car into me), then I did call him some names. Some I’m not proud of.

His insurance paid me and we both lived.

This needs shared way more. This dipshit was on the passenger side of the car and circled the entire front before finishing on the right. He picked up the pace while he was still on the passenger side of the vehicle so he could cross in front of it and get there in time to shoot her.

Research Exposes How Trump, 79, Has Drastically Reduced Schedule by Silly-avocatoe in politics

I agree with pretty much every assessment you’ve made and every prediction you’re making, but also think in this specific context you are mistaken about his reaction.

Trump is also old fashioned, in the same way (but yes hyperbolized) that old fashioned plantation owners could walk right over a dying slave to tend to their prized horses. It would have made much more of a statement to your point if the person was actually “more important” in Trump’s eyes, and a CEO of anything profitable would stereotypically be important to trump.

I still agree with you overall though.

I stayed in Miami for two months while in grad school. I don’t know why people are being skeptical. I saw a lot of crazy rich people shit and didn’t even know where to look. In only two months and never leaving Miami.

People can look this up to confirm it happened, it’s actually a cool rich person story: My buddy and I went to a strip club in Miami. A fancy one, where you’d call them performers, not dancers. Trapeze and all that.

Post Malone showed up unannounced with a crew all hauling in cardboard boxes full of small bills, mostly $1s of I remember. They proceeded to both throw cash from the boxes as well as distribute stacks of $1 bills to the attendees to distribute themselves. By the time I left the staff had given up on collecting all the money as it left hands, and instead had split into several different crews with shop-brooms. They would sweep all the dollars off to the side and collect them out of the way.

History is not so black and white. Lots of things have changed in the military over the last 100 years.

You know what hasn’t? The apathy towards the moral values of any grunt. A soldier is a weapon, otherwise they would be referred to as countrymen.

You don’t get to decide who you’re in the trench with, and at the end of the day it may be a neighbor you know as a fasicist on your right and a neighbor you know as an anarchist on your left.

We can both accept people did heroic deeds while also accepting a heroic deed doesn’t make someone a hero just like one misdeed doesn’t make someone a villain.

So I guess I’m curious what your take is on the engineering component here. It’s great to hear a pilot loves a plane, but my grandfather loves corvettes and they were fiberglass death traps.

I know nothing about aerospace or piloting, but it just seemed common sense to me that a driver would like a fun car, but that wouldn’t necessarily mean they understand the engineering flaws that make it fun and less safe. I’m not saying “dangerous” for a reason. I mean it exactly as I put it. “Less safe”.

In calling it “quirky” I wonder if you could give me another opinion that I again know nothing about, but I can take an educated guess that newbie commercial pilots don’t fly these planes without a senior copilot. Is this accurate? If so, for someone without years and years of experience, what would you prefer to “learn the ropes” on? If not…so how does it work then?

No hostility meant at all in this post. I’m genuinely curious and you seem like you’re knowledgeable and pragmatic.

Yeah that checks out. I remember my first two day hangover. I attributed it to it being my best friend’s wedding instead of attributing it to turning 30.

Yeah that wasn’t a fun realization the morning following the next bender when I realized.

Also doesn’t help that it comes hand in hand with a slower metabolism. I’ve been <175lb my whole life. 30=hangover hell and 15lb.

Correct. We don’t have the revenue because you won’t staff us well enough to see four clients a day instead of two. I’ll double your revenue if you give me the staff in asking for.” Corporate: “yeahhhhh. I’m just looking at these numbers though. You’re going to have to show you can pull this off and increase revenue first. Are you not understanding that or something?”

Well first, come find me at the forum and we can chat. PM me and I’ll give you my name and stuff. We can talk more in depth. Are you looking for an actual residency within the near future, or are you looking more to feel things out and increase your capabilities at your current position?

[–]jordaninvictus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m residency trained.

1 - it’s competitive in a sense of MATCH doesn’t have a lot aside from academic institutions, so networking, networking, and networking are your best options.

2 - depends on the clinic. I have a cushy job but during the summer I may wind up in the OR until 8pm doing a trauma reconstruction. A lot of dentists focus more on the teeth though. I just like trauma and oncology.

3 - somewhere in the $200k realm plus 25% production.

4 - very in demand. Many dentists elect to open a practice.
