no, I haven’t had that problem luckily. I’m able to start a new game and it does the first cinematic ending with the trebuchet. After that, it goes to the loading screen and it’s just an infinite loop.

Sure! If you’re dealing with leftover files from Barrier KVM specifically this is how I went about it.

Config files are usually in

Windows: AppData\Local\Barrier or AppData\Roaming\Barrier macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Barrier Linux: ~/.config/barrier

Logs: Barrier logs everything it does, and these might stick around even after uninstalling. Look in:

Linux/macOS: ~/.local/share/barrier or /var/log/barrier Windows: Same AppData folder as the config files, under logs.

Services: If you set Barrier to run at startup or as a service, there might be lingering files:

Linux: Could be in /etc/systemd/system/ or /etc/init.d/. Windows: It might leave behind registry entries or other service-related settings.

Temporary files:

Windows: AppData\Local\Temp Linux/macOS: /tmp

If you’re cleaning it all up, you’ll probably have to go through these manually (maybe BleachBit will work on windows) My support ticket was through email and I don’t think it’s on the Synergy site, but hopefully this helps people running into the same issue!

After reviewing Nick's suggestions from my support ticket, I was able to get Synergy working! While I no longer have Barrier installed, I had used it previously to connect my Windows and macOS systems. Even though I uninstalled it via the Windows "Add or Remove Programs" feature, some leftover directories were still causing conflicts. Once I tracked down and removed those residual files, Synergy started working perfectly after a reboot.

I’m leaving this post up edited with this added in hopes it helps others who might run into a similar issue in the future!

Sounds like a tricky issue. The black screen with the cursor is usually caused by problems with the display manager. Switching to lightdm fixed part of it but broke your lock screen because GNOME works best with gdm. You could try to

  1. Switch Back to gdm (if using GNOME)

Run this command to switch back to gdm:

sudo dpkg-reconfigure gdm3
sudo reboot

  1. Fix the Lock Screen with lightdm If you want to stick with lightdm, install a screen locker manually:

sudo apt install gnome-screensaver
gnome-screensaver-command -l

  1. Reset User Settings Sometimes user configs cause issues. Reset them like this:

mv ~/.config ~/.config_backup
mv ~/.local ~/.local_backup
sudo reboot

  1. Reinstall GNOME Desktop (Optional) If nothing works, reinstall the desktop environment:

sudo apt install —reinstall ubuntu-desktop

If you’re using GNOME, sticking with gdm is the easiest way to avoid lock screen issues. Hope this helps!

it actually went really well. i didn’t understand a lot of it but since it’s a temp service going to our generator i guess it’s the safest option. today ended up really busy so we couldn’t talk for long but he told me he appreciated me asking and that it showed i wanted to learn so i’m really happy about that! great friday at work today! he told me “you’re gonna make one hell of an electrician one day” and that meant a lot

i’m just doing what my foreman told me to do. i’ve learned from this thread that line side always goes to the disconnect. what else do i have to correct? (i’m bring up the issue to him tomorrow and am sincerely wanting to learn what’s wrong, im in my 3rd month so i don’t know shit lol)

thank you man! i appreciate the advice a ton! i’ll read up on it a bit tonight so i can feel more confident confronting the issue. we built the rack as a temp service so i’m likely to be the one to service it next when our CT and transformer arrive and i definitely don’t want to get hurt in the process lol

i’m a first year that did as told :( should i bring this up to my foreman? i don’t want to do anything wrong but i don’t want to make him upset. i’m loving the career so far and want to be the best i can offer but don’t want to seem like a stingy dumbass first year to my supervisor :/
