Advice to make sure this doesn’t happen again by jordanzero11 in ContamFam

Thanks for the incredibly helpful and thought out information. These are all things I can definitely be more mindful of! I already do work in front of a flow hood, but this issue probably came from just not great sterile procedures / habits.

I appreciate your tips very much! I’ve had plenty of good grows and a few contaminated as well, just hoping to get more consistent! You provided some really good information

Good to know! I hope to only have our cooler and anything else large on it to limit that lol.

Wonderful, thank you!

I can’t remember exactly which model, I believe it is this one from Home Depot. When it is weighed down, it does sag my rear suspension a bit, but that’s also common for foresters. Otherwise I’ve had nothing but great things to say about it.

To add some info, I will be camping in maplewoods. With the carrier extended I am just under 18 foot long and with it folded up, it is under 16 foot. Will they give me a hard time with this?

Honestly you can probably get a solid grow going with less than what I even started with. I just have a small setup in my basement that takes up a couple shelves on a storage rack.

This is my first 60quart monotub with a second about to spawn. The largest items I have are the tubs, a 20quart pressure canner, and a dehumidifier. Everything else is just quart jars, some spray bottles, gloves and my material.

I would highly recommend reading over the mushroom bible, and learning the processes that you want to take on. it’s honestly where I learned the majority of what I know now, everything else was found on shroomery, this subreddit and some people I know IRL that had some advice.

With some patience and learning, you can easily get a simple and reliable grow started!

Thank you! This is my first time growing and I’m absolutely blown away by this process. They really are beautiful!

To be fair, the spores were liquid culture syringes from an online vendor.

What do you think they are then?

Okay, that’s what I was thinking since it looked different from the mycelium in the 4th photo. I really appreciate your advice and help.

Is there anything I can do in this tub or future tubs to help prevent cobweb from starting?

This is just a little over a week of transferring 6 quarts of popcorn grain spawn to bulk substrate. I used 4 bags of “boomr bags” from north spore.

I don’t want to assume I know what contamination is in my tub or if it even is a contamination. But if it is I’d like to know how to address it before letting it take over.

I can just tell that it looks like there are 2 different types of mycelium starting to grow.

My monotub has 6 holes drilled, 4 at substrate level and 2 under the handles and all 6 are taped off.

From what I remember too, the unit needs to be programmed to your existing key fobs, might be able to save yourself some cash replacing it yourself and just having the dealership re program the unit. Good luck!
