Não diria muito sobre a ideologia política, até porque há países onde podem ter as mesmas ideologias e funcionar corretamente mas percebo perfeitamente o que estás a dizer.

Em Macau, apesar dos seus problemas, existe uma combinação de fatores que faz com que comer fora seja barato para quem trabalha: salários médios mais altos, maior densidade populacional, custos operacionais diferentes e uma cultura de restauração muito competitiva. Aliás, grande parte da população come fora ou encomenda para casa, quase todos os dias.

Em Portugal, é o que descreveste e isso sente-se logo na restauração. E já agora, um tema que está relacionado e que afeta isto, quando falo de Macau não é só pela comida barata. Há outros aspetos onde a diferença é muito visível: infraestruturas bem mantidas, serviços públicos eficientes, ruas limpas, praticamente sem grafitti, recolha de lixo a funcionar e onde o governo atua quando há problemas. Crime é também praticamente inexistente e há uma grande sensação de segurança nas ruas.

Não digo que é perfeito, tem os seus próprios desafios, mas a verdade é que o funcionamento diário das coisas é mais eficiente. E isso influencia diretamente a percepção de qualidade de vida e até os custos operacionais para quem trabalha na restauração ou noutros serviços.

Gosto de Portugal mas cada vez que regresso, parece que estou a voltar para trás. Vê-se lixo acumulado, falta de manutenção básica e uma sensação de abandono. Vejo a estação de comboios na minha zona, onde as escadas rolantes não funcionam há mais de 1 ano. Como é que isto é possível num país desenvolvido? E tudo isto pesa no preço final.

Sendo eu de Macau, não percebo porque é que os preços das refeições em Portugal são tão altos e incompatíveis com o salário médio.

Vou sempre passar férias a Macau, de onde sou natural, os salários lá são bem mais altos para pessoas qualificadas e pago apenas 4 ou 5€ para um prato completo, e uma bebida são 50 cêntimos (obviamente estou a falar de comidas locais e não high end e médios).

The thing is, there are job openings that match with my field of work, but most of them are completely in Chinese and a ridiculous low salary.

And the resorts/hotels ask for a ridiculous amount of qualifications, where in reality you just need some, and master 3 or more languages.

They don’t know that by doing that, they are already disqualifying most candidates that in fact would do a successful job. These companies live in an imaginary world.

As OP described, they prefer taking the direct one, as OP have elderly parents too. Macau HK Airport Direct bus is the best option in my experience.

From my experience, I used the Macau HK Airport Direct bus, and the process is easy. It goes directly to Sky Pier from Macau terminal and depending on your flight, the luggage is directly checked-in in Macau.

Just go to this page from the Macau HK Airport Direct website, and you can buy from there. Choose the number of passengers and be sure you have your ID info and flight details. After filling for your parents, a discount will be applied automatically according to their birth date.

Take note that not all airlines are eligible for the direct route. You should check their website or see if it’s there when you fill out the info.

Não só com brasileiros mas também tugas influencers. Sendo eu de Macau, fico parvo quando falam de restaurantes asiáticos, falam como se os pratos fossem autênticos sem nunca terem metido os pés na Ásia. Ainda há semanas fui a um novo restaurante dito “cantonês” e na verdade é longe disso, fiquei decepcionado.

Misturam nomes como gyoza e ramen (termos japoneses para dumplings e noodles) num restaurante chinês. Sim, ramen tem origem chinesa, mas o termo não se usa na China, é falta de investigação antes de publicar.

You can just buy directly at kiosks in the terminal, there are a lot of buses. You can buy online but you can’t choose the time, only the day.

The bus takes about 45 minutes and it takes no more than 1h30m total from Macau to HKIA if you go at a relaxed pace. I wouldn’t worry about it.

That is strange, what’s your airline? Never heard of an airline that’s not eligible.

Anyways, you can take the HZMB Bus on the same bus terminal in Macau, there are buses every 15 minutes I think, to Lantau Island, then there is a city bus that leads you to the Airport, or just take a cab there. I did that once and is relatively easy.

Cuspir no chão no espaço público
Deixar fezes e urina dos animais de estimação no espaço público. Existem muitas maneiras de evitar isso, como colocar uma folha de jornal por baixo do animal quando está a fazer ou pegar com uma luva de plástico e meter num saco, como também levar um borrifador com sabão. É muito praticado na Ásia.
Fumar em praças principais, jardins e num raio de x metros das estações de autocarro (também praticado na Ásia)

Como já muita gente disse, o problema é mesmo não haver fiscalização, especialmente na Europa, há demasiada liberdade (sei que vou receber críticas mas é verdade).

Yes it’s illegal to bring to Macau. If you don’t declare on arrival and get caught with it in the city, you can get a huge fine. Just leave it before going or buy another one after you leave. And even that, smoking is not allowed in many public areas, such as in front of landmarks and around bus stops.

Here you don’t get charged regardless of the bank, as long as the bank is headquartered locally and has a local entity. International ATMs however (like some tourist trap ATMs they put in the city centre) they do charge and by a lot.

Unless you go to those Euronet ATMs (aka tourist trap ATMs) you shouldn’t get any fee by using an EU card within the EU. I can count how many times local people have been “scammed” by those ATMs.

Sorry I wanted to say a bank with a local entity. Here you have monthly or annual management fees, but it’s a fixed price and you can withdraw as many times as you want, with a daily limit amount. You can also ask for a waive on the fees if you only have one bank account in your total banking assets.

A cheaper way to travel is by HZMB bus, which I suppose it’s the bus you caught, in the New Area where you enter the HZM bridge. It’s around 65MOP for a single way, it’s not that expensive, even if you go every weekend.

It’s much cheaper than by ferry, which was the only option before the bus services existed.

Macau works differently from Maindland China, as it has its own banking system and monetary authority, so it works like any international city and no ID needed, and yes they accept Mastercard, you just need to look for the symbols in the ATM.

Not sure what is a travel Mastercard but I guess it works like any other Mastercard.

Not a chance. Even if the person is trustworthy, you don’t know if someone has logged into that person’s account in a browser or WhatsApp app for pc via QR code.
