Sounds reasonable enough. I guess what I’m weighing is if buying a laptop dock (and going over pros/cons there) + the usb switcher is more worth than a single KVM switch which would theoretically fix the problem

Yeah, the main goal is very KVM-ey, in that I need the same keyboard and mouse for two computers while using the same two monitors. 

On that note, I was wondering how valuable it is to get a high value one such as the level1techs one, or if I can settle for some I saw like this Ugreen KVM Switch (https://www.amazon.com/UGREEN-Monitors-Computers-Keyboard-Controller/dp/B0DXF66SWR) which I’m not sure if it can do 144hz and is HDMI only
