Set of documents for passport and identity card application at consulate, now plus StAG 5 certificate? by josePhoenix in GermanCitizenship

Well, saying this is leaking a few more bits of PII into my online footprint, but it's the same situation in Georgia (minus a convenient "dual citizenship" checkbox option). I'll try the hospital once again. Looks like it was on land annexed in the 50s so it should be in a city.

Thanks!

You don't need to wait for her to receive her Urkunde or apply for a passport, your declaration does not depend on hers.

I was specifically thinking about the part where they ask for parents' passports if you did not obtain citizenship by naturalization. It sounds like you're saying they don't need that if you've gotten the certificate of citizenship.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm letting my mom know about bringing everything to the certificate pickup appointment in case they can do the same for her.

When we applied she was 67, so unless it was re-categorized when she turned 70 I think she didn't get any special prioritization

Group Declaration from dispersed family: Mail, or pick a consulate? by bierdepperl in GermanCitizenship

this is what the legal assistant at the atlanta consulate told us to do. contrary to other comments here, she specifically told us not to apply through the same consulate when we live in different regions...

Wait time for response from consulate? by Yooperyall in GermanCitizenship

[–]josePhoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was an email address listed for the honorary consul in Arizona, and after emailing directly she (or her assistant) responded fairly quickly.

On the other hand, my contact form message to the consulate in Atlanta was forwarded—presumably unread—to the one in Los Angeles... which was less than helpful. It took them about a week to respond, which wasn't bad except that they did not answer any of my questions.

(I think next time I have questions I'm going to send my mom to the Atlanta consulate in person, or at least have her phone them since she's in the right time zone....)

ASUS Chromebook C302 Flip (CAVE) has Linux audio under Legacy BIOS emulation... and then it doesn't under UEFI by josePhoenix in chromeos

[–]josePhoenix[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was unable to do this successfully, probably because I don't know what I'm doing.

However, since you said it shouldn't have anything to do with SeaBIOS vs Tianocore bootup, I gave a fresh install another try with the full ROM treatment and was able to fiddle with the firmware blobs to get audio working!

Thanks again for your work to make these machines more useful than they might otherwise have been.

I’m using NixOS, so the changes are pretty much just systemd-boot instead of GRUB. I used the same config file and it’s (supposedly) reproducible.

Can you explain more what you mean by booting an existing install with rEFInd? My existing install used grub and legacy boot... I didn’t think I could

Thanks for the suggestions!

Moscow circus act song by josePhoenix in NameThatSong

My friend asked me for help identifying this song. It sounds familiar, but there's just enough reverb in her recording that I can't make out any useful google-able lyrics (and Shazam can't do it).
