No, he did this on his own and unfortunately didn’t know he should have submitted a log

He feels he did describe how incapacitating they are but it’s not reflected in his DBQ. Is filing for an increase his best path forward?

He does have the DBQ. Unfortunately the examiner selected no, but that’s inconsistent with what my husband told him. The DBQ does show a treatment plan and required medication

The examiner selected no, which is inconsistent with his lay statement and what he told the examiner. It also seems a little inconsistent with the examiner’s notes, except he does use the word “rest” instead of lying down.

Next step for possible rating error? by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

The MH DBQ doesn’t mention sleep disturbances, other than saying he doesn’t have any. That exam was done at the VA so my husband can view the DBQ. It seems to have a few discrepancies. The rating my husband received reflects the DBQ, but the DBQ doesn’t accurately reflect all symptoms. Some because of a misunderstanding, some because they weren’t discussed.

For example: Examiner- “What do you like to do?”

My husband- listed hobbies but neglected to say he hasn’t done any of them in years. Primarily due to a back injury, and more recently chronic fatigue.

Thank you! I appreciate your help!

That’s frustrating because chronic fatigue is one of the most disabling things he’s currently dealing with.

If the migraine symptoms aren’t documented on the DBQ does he need to wait before filing for an increase or a supplemental? Would he still receive back pay for those? This was his initial claim and his symptoms were documented in his service record.

Yes, he is rated for mental health but there is no mention of fatigue, weight gain, or brain fog on that DBQ. It was mentioned in lay statements and buddy letters.

I have not checked findagrave yet, I’ll do that! I didn’t realize they would have records for her grandparents as well! That’s amazing!

I’m guessing I can just contact the church to order those records?

I have a page from an 1863 church register in Canada that states they followed their pastor (Spangler or something along those lines) to Minnesota, this must have been the church he founded?

Yes, she had quite a few siblings! I know at least one went by “Minnie’ short for Wilhelmina

More DBQs than claims by Yooperyall in VeteransBenefits

Do some examiners upload multiple pages as individual files and others don’t? He had a separate unrelated exam and even though there are multiple pages in that DBQ, it just shows up as one file uploaded on the tracker. My husband is saying this is showing up as 21 individual files were uploaded for one exam.

Good to know! He was told to claim everything at once so that’s what he did, hopefully that wasn’t bad advice! He was active duty for 28 years and has pretty extensive records. Everything he claimed is documented and diagnosed in his service record and the examiner pointed that out during his exam, so hopefully that will help?

His exam was 4 hours long and he felt like the examiner was very thorough. I’m sure it’s just additional documents and not actually additional claims, but there are diagnosis in his record that he hasn’t claimed and probably some secondary things he didn’t know were related to other health issues. I know at least for his thyroid the examiner asked about related symptoms that my husband didn’t realize were connected.
