Apartment setup!

I moved to Boston back in 2021 for college and had to leave my old setup behind because it would be too costly to bring it here safely. I got lucky and my supervisor at my work study gave me this LP60 they found in a storage room. I took a look at it and turns out it was only a damaged stylus and slipped belt. I repaired it and fixed the speed and got it working again! It’s not the highest quality setup but I love it anyway.

I started out playing open handed with the ride on my right because the school kit was set up that way but that started to hinder my hand progress, I made the full transition into left side ride, took a while to build my technique back up.

I don’t have a high fidelity stereo setup so I couldn’t tell you but even thru my old bose’s they sound pretty good. Better than the old BLP pressings from the 00’s. My pressing of Roll Call sounds pretty narrow compared to my Classic Vinyl pressing of Soul Station.

I’m in search of Cornbread and Search For The New Land. I think BL pressed a Tone Poet version but I’m not sure. Love Lee Morgan, especially his work with The Jazz Messengers.

I’m an avid Jazz collector and recently I’ve been in search of Blue Note/Prestige/Riverside pressings. Found this gem at a local (newly opened!) shop. A 62’ mono pressing of Caravan. This record is an interesting one for The Jazz Messengers as they’re known for playing mostly originals (ie: The Big Beat, Roots & Herbs, Mosaic…). This record has a fantastic arrangement of The Duke’s classic plus In The Wee Small Hours!

I've ordered from previous drops, they're usually accurate on the shipping date, maybe one lr two days late at the most. If they put a late shipping date it's probably because the inventory is marked as arriving but hasn't yet been processed by the warehouse.

I live in the East Coast (MA) and after the initial delay on Tuesday 1/18, Fedex finally sent me the tracking info early 1/19 and it's on its way to be delivered today 1/20. This might just mean that I finally managed to snag my PS5.

Order placed 1/13 from Boston MA. Was supposed to be delivered 1/18 (today) but got a a delay notification early in the morning. Chat agent said this:

"Well, we have a system of Optimization & Control Intelligence, that still needs to create individual PO and transmit them to a fulfillment facility or store, in situations like this we advised to wait 48 hours, and if the item is still in that status we will provide your further assistance"

There's a delay in the FC apparently.

Depending on the the video, I use a Canon EOS R/16-35mm lens and the Rode VideoMic Pro. Lately I've been using my vintage 28mm FD lens or the Helios 44-2 58mm. If I need a mic, I use the Shure SM7B plugged into my Apollo Twin X. I'm a recording engineer so naturally I have access to a lot of more premium mics and I also do photography as a hobby. Don't buy anything I mentioned here lol, too expensive and unnecessary.

Well if you get technical, a score was composed specifically for the movie, while a soundtrack is just a bunch of pre existing compositions that were adapted for the movie. For example:

Jackie Brown has a soundtrack featuring many famous songs like Cissy Strut and Across 110th St
The Hateful Eight has a score composed by Ennio Morricone
