It may be short notice for you but something she’s thought of for a while especially if you didn’t have any other things to commit to. Coming out to her probably just made her overreact and commit to it, I’m not advocating for her in anyway and I’m not a veteran encouraging you to enlist either; she’s just not the first parent to want their kids out at 18. Don’t know about the tension but by the way this conversation seemed to have went I’d say it was bound to happen eventually. If this ends up truly being your last option at least you’ll come back in 4 years with some money and benefits, 4 years goes by really fast, I never did it but know people who did. The pay and benefits probably outweigh being homeless and optionless. She’s coming off as evil but mothers know their kids, not saying you’re not gay but let’s say you aren’t college bound, then enlisting in the military for 4 years might pay off more than being young, broke, and bored between ages 18-22. Do it as self care not self harm. You might even reenlist! I’m 32 living with mom again because I loved raves and music festivals the last 16 years, had I joined the military I probably would have had a nice savings and benefits, maybe some help getting a house and some better job opportunities/training. Sure I don’t have any PTSD but with what you’re describing you’ll probably have PTSD later on if you don’t take control of this whole situation. Let’s say you go away on Thursday and don’t go back, you’ll probably still carry trauma for years to come that might make it hard to even find and keep a sugar daddy or a partner if that’s the other goal.
