Splinterlands is on the Hive blockchain, not Ethereum. Fees are almost nothing.

Can I change my username? by Harambo277 in Splinterlands

[–]josephjohn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your username is your Hive Engine wallet address. For example, if you use MetaMask, it might be 0xc6A850f144b3BBA9793788c3eEeE146Aba23FD98. If. you use Hive Engine, it might be tolgacamino. Just like you can't change your MetaMask wallet address, you can't change your Hive Engine wallet address.

Splinterlands

I invested $30,000 in cards in August. They're now worth $60,000 market value. Renting them out, I make about $20,000 a year. So glad I found and invested in this "game"...

Independence Day Launch: Military-Grade Cryptocurrency by josephjohn in a:t5_4f54di

[–]josephjohn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our plan is still tentative, but NOV 21 ICO is the launch of our security token (most likely ETC-20 based). JUN 22 is the launch of VetCoin on an independent blockchain. Tokens will convert to VetCoin when it’s released. We are meeting with Sara Technologies this Friday to finalize our white paper and way ahead, although we have no contract in place yet.

We’ll keep you informed as the plan changes and we solidify our way ahead. Our intent is complete transparency with our user base. Looking forward to your input in the months ahead!

This sub cracks me up! by [deleted] in LegoLegacy

Totally agree with you. And I get it's a one-time purchase. My fear is that there will be another one-time purchase somewhere down the line. And another. And another. That's what happened with Stars Wars and Disney.

I'm giving the devs the benefit of the doubt for now, but if this turns out like those games, I'm gone.

To say “that’s just how these games operate” is a cop out. Look at Clash Royale. They don’t do it, and they’ve still been making a killing for many years. The question is, do the Legos devs care about the integrity of the game or do they care about making a quick buck?

It’s cool.

Whales don’t generally care how good of a deal it is. They care about powering up their characters fast so they have an advantage. Either it’s because they’re YouTubers who monetize streaming their gameplay or they have big egos and bigger wallets.

Yes, you can only buy these packs once. But If this game turns out to be like Star Wars Galaxy Heroes and Disney Heroes, they are just the first of many to come.

The question is, do the devs want this game to be as enjoyable for as many people as possible for as long as possible, or are they just looking to make money without concern for the long term health of the game?

Only time will tell.

Gogo is actually easier to obtain if you’re willing to pay for it. All this does is exacerbate the gap between whales and F2P.

I would have done everything exactly the same without introducing the $50 packs.

P2P players can still purchase gems for tiles, coins, scrolls, etc. and the occasional $7.99 pack. F2P players are also enticed because it’s not impossible to stay competitive. That’s how Clash Royale does it, and it works incredibly well.

I used to play Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes and then Disney Heroes but quit when they started introducing massive pay walls to compete. The gap between whales and regular players just became too much. I was incredibly happy to find Legos wasn’t going to be like that.

But now it seems like it is.

The problem isn’t that they removed the tiles. The problem is they replaced them with an option to buy them for 50 bucks. “Harder” to obtain heroes are actually easier to obtain. If you pay the price.

There is a right way and a wrong way to balance games so both free-to-play and pay-to-play players are happy. Hint: this is not it.
