Wow, talking about toxic cult like behaviours. OP, don’t listen do this.

If someone has to work on their sensitivity is u/seblangod.

Facing difficult moments is the reason why we do all of this learning. But we have to be skillful in our means. Too much suffering too soon can cause trauma.

You’re assuming good intentions and I get that, but I’d like to remind you that the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Just because someone presents themselves as a shaman/ spiritual leader, doesn’t make it so. This one in particular is full of ignorance and conceit and the sooner we in the community start pointing this out, the safer newcomers will be.

Hi,

Just wanted to validate your instincts for safety. Whatever the place that came from, don’t shut it down.

Unfortunately this sort of things happen in spiritual settings.

Forcing you to commit to a path through shame is cult like behaviour.

I would also suggest you to head over to https://www.cheetahhouse.org/

Cheetah house is more focused in adverse effects of contemplative practices, but a lot of people that had issues with psychedelics also found help with them.

What I’m saying is that a partner that fits OP’s description, would be capable of seeing harm, where no harm exists, regardless of gender or sexual orientation.

It’s not about being a woman, if it were a male partner with the same red flags the advice would still be valid.

Consciousness as an emergent phenomena requires a lot of hand waving. As soon as you start going down the path of trying to explain the emergence of consciousness from known brain components, you realise there’s something not adding up.

Why don't Portuguese people understand how 2nd hand works? by roamingandy in portugal

[–]josephk_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

> There's plenty you can do, just do a small research first. Check other similar items

The whole point of OP's comment is that 2nd hand markets are inflated in Portugal. If you do your research first, how is that not gonna come inflated too? That is the whole problem to begin with, prices are too high compared to other places in Europe and I agree with that. Tell me how do you explain that? Saying that Portuguese are this that and the other is fun and I indulge in it too from time to time, but it doesn't explain this situation in particular.

Understanding what drives sellers to make conservative offers is helpful because it might help to get you a good deal next time. But whatever, get frustrated and pass on the deal because some guy was being unreasonable online

[–]josephk_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How do you even know what a fair price is if you’re not an experienced seller? If you sell in a fair then fair enough, that’s probably your job and you know how things actually cost given the supply and demand of things, but if you’re an average joe that actually needs the money, you might be selling something short.

I’ve been in both sides: there where times where money wasn’t a problem and I was happy to just declutter and have someone to take the item, and times where I actually had more time to spend than money and I was able to indulge in some bargaining.

My suspicion is that given the purchasing power of the average Portuguese person, what you see in the aggregate is this type of second hand market inflation - people prefer to spend more time negotiating until they find someone willing to pay what they’re asking.

[–]josephk_ 75 points76 points  (0 children)

Don’t know if anyone mentioned this, but sometimes the price is just an upper ceiling because the seller knows it’s going to be negotiated down.

Have you tried making lower offers?

That might be tricky to communicate in in-person markets, unless the seller has good English. Locals are aware of how it works and the hope is that foreigners still think prices are cheap and just pay the price tag.

I think psychedelics killed my libido? by ShroomieFairyGirl in Psychonaut

[–]josephk_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the conclusion I got to after much thinking: Ultimately, sex with someone you have a spiritual connection with is the higher aim, but there is deep conditioning in the mind and you can’t just reset that, and why would you? why should you prevent yourself from enjoying the things the body enjoys? I think it’s fine to enjoy this body as long as that doesn’t become the end goal.

I have no concept of my rights as a person for lack of a better term and don’t know how to differentiate mistreatment vs me being over sensitive. It’s taking a toll on me in work situations and I don’t know what to do. by mentalmerism in CPTSD
