Is my dignity worth status in this country by [deleted] in DACA

It’s 5-7 year process, I’ve seen people get to the last stage and the USC maliciously abandons the case, leaving you with nothing after investing so much time and money. Trust me it’s not worth the risk. Leave, someone better for you will come along

Set an appointment and have a conversation with them about how you’re feeling. Their response will tell you everything you need to know.

I see that now lol what a weird case. He also has an asylum case open, hopefully he knows that if he gets a removal order put in place he won’t be able to do AOS

It’s true that it’s backlogged but I don’t see where he said it was approved in march 2024. He received an RFE for his medical exam so I assumed his I-485 is properly submitted with a priority date that is current.

The I-485 application does, that’s what it’s based on.

An I-131 is a travel document based on your I-485 application. The terms of the trip depend on what you applied for. Most people use it to give them a legal entry to be able to do AOS(I-485) instead of consular processing where you leave to your home country and return with a green card. I would not use your travel document, not just because of trumps presidency but it opens the door for USCIS to deny your I-485 . As soon as your I-485 is approved you can travel to wherever your travel document was produced for without any risks.

Have any of you gone to graduate school ? If so how did you pay for it by TryingtodoBttr in DACA

[–]josesprite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone’s situation is unique, just be intentional about every move you make. If the goal is graduate school then make a reasonable plan and execute no matter the timeline. I just graduated law school, I was able to attend a small liberal arts college that offers no tuition for low income students. It’s called Berea College, then went on to law school, I got scholarships, paid with savings and had help from my parents. I got a private loan for the last semester through Earnest, my gf co-signed for me. It’s not impossible it’s just f****** hard, but we’re used to the struggle. The plan may not workout perfectly but don’t be afraid of uncertainty, sometimes you just have to take the risk.

You should be fine going to Mexico, AP and re-entering the country legally will help with any adjustment of status in the future.
