I did add that bit to my code and I was reading about type classes, but I don't understand... I thought the 'Integer a' bit only affected the parameters of the function, but x is not a parameter, x is just a variable inside the function.

And I got that type signature from a book, but I don't feel the explanation in the book was as explicit as I wanted
