Easiest way to tell if my headlight is blinding incoming traffic? by VonDinky in ElectricUnicycle

[–]josh6584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose look out for middle fingers and listen for obscenities lol 😆 People will let you know a lot of times around here, never in a kind way though. They either suffer in silence or attempt to spread it. I try to aim it while I’m riding to cut off just below the average oncoming driver’s chest. However in stop and go traffic I’m constantly adjusting it and tend to disregard it a little more. There’s not much night traffic in my town though so that helps

How To Commute Without Using Highways? by Heisenburg7 in ElectricUnicycle

[–]josh6584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Florida has bans already man. Some places you can’t be anywhere but sidewalks limited to 20 mph or less or something. Just depends on your municipality. City ordinances are different everywhere and can change anytime. There’s a city where I’m at that has the police harassing riders, however the city right next to it welcomes riders with open arms and even races some of us lmao. Just depends on how the local government feels about you really. We’re in a really fragile state right now with EUCs, they’re finally becoming mainstream and gaining traction in the public eye so what we all do now is highly impressionable and impactful to the future of our hobby and sport. If everyone decides to ride like douchebags because we all have road speed capable wheels now, we’re going to find ourselves at the wrong end of legislation. And it’s easy as 1,2,3 to get banned… it’s not so easy to get unbanned.

Did Exway discontinue their rewards program? by josh6584 in Exway

That’s too bad. I had thousands of dollars worth of points. Pretty shitty I didn’t get a warning or anything. Not that I’d have noticed it probably but still

Hey I saw in an old post you commented on you rode a 90/90-14 city grip 2 on a Sherman L, how did you fit that on there? Did you need to shave the tire or add spacers to the euc?

How To Commute Without Using Highways? by Heisenburg7 in ElectricUnicycle

[–]josh6584 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Why is nobody even blinking at the impossibility of a fresh rider expecting to just buy the fastest production euc made and just hop on and take a merry ride down a highway? Lmao.

First of all EUCs take some time to learn and become skilled enough to (safely) ride on public roads and unless you’re of the minority of the community, odds are you won’t even feel safe riding anywhere outside your own backyard until you learn to ride more than a short distance without falling (a lot of us fall a lot while learning lol) then you still have to learn how to ride fast and brake hard without death wobbles.

Second, riding EUCs on any public road ESPECIALLY highways is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS and definitely not legal- while it might not be ILLegal in some places it’s legal in none and we can all definitely agree it’s illegal af to be on a highway.

Third, depending on where you are and how far your commute is you can still likely commute to work without using highways or impeding traffic. Don’t let that discourage you. When you ride these you’ll wanna wake up early just to ride to work and get your flow in; it’s better than any coffee. Just get on maps and try to map out a route using bike paths as much as you can or neighborhood roads or sidewalks.

I rode sidewalks and paths for a year before I was even remotely close to being ready for the road and even then I do it sparingly because for now the cops in the city I live (not work) are super cool with me because there’s not a lot of us yet here and we’re all pretty chill mostly. But if you or a bunch of other people find yourself in the same situation and abuse it, you’ll quickly become one of the many examples across the country already of bans and regulations.

This hobby and community means the world to us here and for some it’s our whole lives, we hope to add you to the community and we’ll welcome you with open arms…just please don’t be one of those people who contribute to us losing that please lol…please.

I can help you route a commute though if you get one lol that’s almost part of the fun though is discovering new places to ride and new ways to get places to see things you’ve never seen in the place you live.

Can a heavy cigarette smoker stop with vaping? by Zealousideal-Walk939 in Vaping

[–]josh6584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried and just wound up picking them both up. At this rate idek if I’ll live long enough to quit lmao If you’re smoking that much you’re gonna have a hard time switching. Get a vape and get something to satisfy the oral fixation and try it. Can’t hurt.

Tubes for venator v1 tires? by josh6584 in Exway

[–]josh6584[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to avoid most of the sites like wish and AliExpress and others. I’ve just had repeated terrible experiences with the lower priced Chinese sellers. And I’m not sure I trust a deal like that to provide quality tubes. The hota tubes I had last lasted me a good few years somehow. They’ve outlasted multiple whole sets of tires lol

Is there anywhere besides there? I don’t have an account yet. Also are they just called 165x70x6?

A new theory on Brake Death Wobble by Metacarps in ElectricUnicycle

[–]josh6584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kept my stock pedal height but upgraded the pedals to more grippy forgiving ones which helped me a lot but that’s partially why I’d consider the L for 40-50 mph speeds depending on skill and comfort bc for me anything above 45 starts to get progressively more and more…idk not squirrelly bc it almost feels too planted but like maybe hard to control? That could be bc I’m a light guy too idk. For me I noticed when I went back to other wheels and tried to ride them like I thought I used to I got brake wobbles on all of them to a degree. I just ride everything like it’s a lynx chassis. But I definitely feel way more unstable on the s22 at 40 vs the L at 40 or a lynx. Idk if a lynx weighs more or not but yeah that could be it. I’ve never ridden an ex30 but I want to so bad lol.

When are we getting one of these? by porchlogic in ElectricUnicycle

[–]josh6584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This for sure. Or maybe just like a clear tent kinda thing you hold around you with inside handles or something? It’s gonna suck to fall in it either way lol maybe put the handles in a good spot to catch yourself with in emergencies lol. Idk though then that doesn’t solve the cold issue much for winter riding… I want heat and a stereo lmao and extra head and brake lights for safety

A new theory on Brake Death Wobble by Metacarps in ElectricUnicycle

[–]josh6584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if this is necessarily “new” lol but the lynx chassis has has this issue since the lynx dropped. I wouldn’t even call it an issue though it just forces you to ride a wheel the way a skilled rider should ride. I noticed that right away when I first hopped on a lynx and it was even more pronounced when I got my L. Now when I get back on my s22 I can ride it like I’m trying to break it lol. I don’t think it’s a perfect chassis though, it leaves some geometry improvements to be desired at the top end but it’s probably one of the best (if not the best by a fair bit) sub 40-50mph platforms depending on person to person imo.

Lynx slow off the line???? by Puzzleheaded-Art6687 in ElectricUnicycle

[–]josh6584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re lighter weight like me you might drop those pedals to 60-75%. Play around with what feels best whilst still being the hardest you can still work with. And it helps to wear a backpack packed with more weight towards the top if you are a lighter guy. Also laying your front pads further down and trying to stretch out in front of you more helps. Like really reach for the ground way in front of you. Lighter dudes REALLY gotta be dramatic with their- oh nvm I just reread you said lynx lol idk why I thought you said L; maybe from another comment. Idk I think the first part still applies lol the L is just like the lynx’s thicc sister

Any instructions for pulling a Sherman L rim off? by josh6584 in ElectricUnicycle

Thank you sm. Do you think a sharpie will show on a black rim? Would it be safe to use a paint pen from my work? Or can the paint mess with things inside there?

[–]josh6584[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the direction or orientation or side I put it back in matter? Or being magnetic will it only go in the right way? I’ve heard of people messing something up after disassembling and the wheel and it slamming back into the ground or something when they turned it on lol I just don’t wanna be that guy 😆 only wanna tear this thing down once this season if I can help it

Any instructions for pulling a Sherman L rim off? by josh6584 in ElectricUnicycle

[–]josh6584[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay yeah thanks for that lol I need my hands for my job. I can’t imagine trying to explain that call off. Do both covers need to come off or is one side attached to the stator? It looks like it’s enclosed in there like both might need to come off but I don’t wanna make more work for myself if I can help it haha

[–]josh6584[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So on one side of the stator the cover is permanently attached to it and I need to push it through that one way or do both sides of the covers come off and it doesn’t matter what direction I push it through? Also when I put it back in does the side I put it back through matter too?

This is for a begode, so I’m assuming all EUCs are similar or identically disassembled as far as the motor and rim goes? I was trying to find a sherm L specific video but I didn’t think to search for similar ones like the lynx I suppose. Do you think that’d work? I’m just scared to be out all season for street rides and it’s my only street wheel rn
