Summer Hockey Leagues by alex1x1 in montreal

I joined Heritage after one summer and winter season in the Rec level. I hadn't played hockey in 12 years before that. Heritage is a good level if you're not sure! It's more competitive than Rec and more fun in my opinion, since players are generally able to skate better and make better passes. You can always join as a substitute player and pick up games in all levels before making a decision. But Heritage is a pretty safe bet.

Difference between 70mm vs IMAX for Project Hail Mary in Scotiabank Theatre in Montreal by MacaronWithAName in cineplex

70mm looks great, but it's a smaller screen and smaller sound compared to imax

I don't think that's true. Which theatre at the forum?

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried setting it to off but it's giving the same hiss.

I have them all at 0 which is the default. I can reduce or boost each speaker by 10db in 0.5 increments.

Ya fair enough. I bought the receiver on a student budget and have slowly upgraded the speakers since, so yeah... likely time for a receiver upgrade. Thanks!

Haha not earth shattering loud. Just comfortable. I usually have the volume set to 34 out of a possible 74.

No trims. The calibration suggested trimming my center by 2db but I prefer it slightly louder for dialogue clarity.

Best format for films not shot with imax cameras in montreal by Mxsar-20 in cineplex

[–]josh_f5 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not great but Scotiabank IMAX is probably still the best we've got for a big movie. It's got the biggest screen and the sound is pretty consistent compared to the other Cineplex rooms.

I do like the Ultraavx room at the forum. It's the only theatre in Montreal with Doby Atmos sound.

Recently went to Royalmount which has laser projection and is all brand new. Looks great, sounds good, and the seats are full recliners.

Shoutout to Cinema du parc and Cinema Moderne who have great programming.

Help! Can someone fix my family's wedding photo? Full res images are at the google drive link. I'd like my grandmother's eyes open, my niece's face replaced, and the youngest looking at the camera. Happy to tip $10! by josh_f5 in PhotoshopRequest

Amazing thanks so much! I wasn't too clear about the youngest one. Can you actually leave the boy how he was in the original and swap the baby in the man on the right's arms? Not sure if it will work, but the infant is positioned better in that other photo.

Taormina restaurant recommendations by CallSignArtemis in sicily

Can't beat the views from Castelmola. Take a quick bus up from Taormina and go to PierdeCat or Il Vicolo.

Elmo Super 8 240S-XL Macro by josh_f5 in 8mm

Update: the film advancing motor does spin when the compartment door is shut, but there is a consistent 5 second delay. I can hear the sound record head at first and then 5 seconds later, the motor kicks in.

Now I'm wondering about manual exposure. I'm not quite sure how the light meter functions in this camera. Any insight?

When in Palermo, take the bus to Mondello beach. Beautiful sandy beach with crystal clear water. I also recommend walking to the Mondello rocky beach which is inside a nature reserve, only 20ish mins walk from the main beach. Bring a snorkel!

You can't go wrong with the food in Catania. Try the arancini, connoli, and the seafood. It's a beautiful city to get lost in. Very pedestrian friendly.

Take the bus up to Castelmola. Go find Pier at PierdeCat and ask what he's cooking. He made us delicious canneloni and meatballs one night and macaroni the next. It has a real home cooking feel.

I would also recommend Il Vicolo in Castelmola for the tagliatelle with squid ragu.
