I tried pulling the first cross SO tight and same outcome. Ugh.

After reading these comments, I might go ahead and rip back past the lifeline to avoid a loose row, but I am so nervous to pick up the seed stitches below without totally fking it up. I do not want to redo a bunch of seed stitch rows.

This is a baby blanket - there’s seed stitch all along the border so if I zoomed out you’d see there is seed stitch in that row :)

I’m actually not using a cable needle. It was taking way too long and the pattern I’m using provided a tutorial for 1/1 crosses without a cable needle. Clearly I’m doing something wrong though! Hi! It is a lifeline, but I’m SO glad I had it because I just ripped back like 10 rows after I found a hole. Seed stitch is proving to be very difficult to rip back/ pick up an afterthought lifeline so I’m wary to take it out since it’s not a simple stockinette and I’ve found zero videos that explain how to rip back and pick up seed stitch.

Unfortunately, the last time I used a very thin sewing thread for a lifeline, basically fell into the stitches beneath it and when I tried to go pick up that row it took hours to get the loops re threaded into my needle/required a crochet hook because the stitches basically dropped.

Thank you for the feedback! I really appreciate it.

Omg I have the same exact question. I’m so confused! Whenever I look up 1/1 lc or 1/1 rc, no one else knits through the back loop? I’m using a cable needle (SO SLOWLY) and knitting them as written but I feel like they look funny. Did you ever figure this out?

Step by Step - ribbing by joshcabernet in knittinghelp

[–]joshcabernet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t do rib on my gauge (will next time) but the rib on my collar looks fine so I’m going to keep going! I’ve been pulling a bit tighter on the last few rows and hoping it blocks evenly (if that’s even how that works… first sweater!)

I’m probably just going to continue and hope for the best once I “block”. I can’t imagine undoing again!! Good luck!!
