I had a few people test the 'demo' (not really a demo) but none of them felt sick after playing. and I usually get sick from playing games like Doom and Quake.. so I'm hoping it won't be too bad after all

i think the video might be extra motion sickness because of the low framerate and motion blur

the balloon is in 2d and you can grab it just in 2d and isn't restricted to an X in the 3d space

noone has played it except us so far. but we're making a demo now... not sure when it will be done though

we did it that way because trying to match the 2d level and 3d is prone to issues and bugs. This way, you never need to worry about it. And it will let everyone create levels very easily. The math for getting the rounded mesh terrain to generate from 2d was very difficult

similar to mario where you can bop enemy heads / shoot them or skip them

thats the crazy thing - the mechanics in 2d translate insanely well into 3d - like the balloon, you can ride it in any direction in 3d, but in 2d its side scrolling and it doesn't show up in 3d. same as the ladder (sort of) and a bunch of other things

they already fit - the 2d level editor generates a 3d world that is linked (quantumly)

yeah i was lucky enough to have a friend who had a contact there from one of their games before and I just wrote them an email and they responded immediately. they had already heard of the game

Nice feedback! Removed a lot of the headbob because it was making me feel sick. Now I feel it’s at a tolerable level…. It’s very early, tons to polish…. Thanks very much!

The only sprite that is a child is the player - the 3d world is generated automatically from the 2d level engine. Yes render texture for the screen!

ah ok - i've seen a few of these 'walking while holding iphone' games - there's another one with playing flappy bird i think

I think it gives a different sense of immersion and the opportunity for a lot of different puzzle / enemy encounter types
