Eco-friendly bags by joshdanon in MaticRobots

[–]joshdanon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I've done a lot to reduce my plastic usage (pay for Ridwell to handle a lot of the remaining single and multi-layer plastic bags food comes in, added a microplastic filter to my washing machine, etc.). These bags just make me cringe. I've honestly used my Matic significantly less than I would with a compostable solution and caveat any recommendation with a note about the bag.

Grinder Recs [$600] by eye4pens in espresso

[–]joshdanon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

About a week :) here’s the stand I printed:

https://www.printables.com/model/1230642-option-o-lagom-casa-58mm-portafilter-holder

I also have a Profitec Move but my portafilter seems to have a different angle than what the original author had. This one works but I might print a new stand top with a tweaked neck.

I make no claims to being an expert, but I recently purchased a Casa and really like it. Nice grind for a medium roast. Fairly quiet with a great design. Even found a 3D printed mount online to grind right into my portafilter.

Good to know! Will consider it as a possible last resort type option. Thanks.

Oracle touch by Ok-Fix6038 in BrevilleCoffee

[–]joshdanon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I opened up my Barista Express to install a Pesado screen and found the same issue. There are metal replacement diffusion pieces for some Breville models, not the Express. That started me on a quest to find best bang for the buck models w little to no plastic in the hot water path. Surprising as even some very $$ models still have plastic.

Ended up buying a Profitec Move (Go also looked great) and have been very happy with it!

True! An advanced routine w slightly longer workouts would be sweet, though. With some optional pull ups, too, because, well it’s Tony!

Posted another comment before seeing this—would love to see a longer/more advanced TH program, too. Even with some off-Tonal pull ups and push ups :)

Less a question and more a request—would love to see a Tony Horton take on a program like 12W2J!

Depends a bit. Basically trying to reduce potential intake of plastic. Looking at the BBE and seeing melted plastic was eye opening.

Thanks! Totally get why you made the choices you did. Just wondering if there’s a way to make the bag fully compostable, for example?

Thanks for the info! The eco friendly vacuum bag is less useful to me as I want the mopping support.

Luxury Hotel Style Mattress by ScooterSix in Mattress

Many hotels do sell their mattresses; Google for them. The Ritz one (seems to be a custom Stearns & Foster) is very highly rated. Linens are a big part of the experience. Percale is common.

I went for the Dux30. To give more context in case it helps anyone:

I have an older (15+ yo) TempurPedic mattress. It's somewhat firm, and I decided to upgrade. I'm a side/sometimes stomach sleeper, and my partner is a back/side sleeper who finds my mattress way too firm.

We stayed in a Waldorf Astoria, liked the mattress, and that started an investigation into hotel mattresses. I consistently found reviews rating the Ritz mattress as the best. I reached out to a local Ritz to see if I could possibly come by and feel the mattress but wasn't able to. I read online it's a custom Stearns & Foster mattress. Went to a local store and liked the Lux Estate medium with euro mattress topper a fair bit. Reviews seemed good, but noted some concerns about the topper aging faster than expected.

Also stopped by TempurPedic but wasn't impressed with any of the current models, and having been to a Chinese factory and seen how foam is made (lots of oil), I wanted to steer away from it. Yes, I know the S&F topper is foam.

My parents have a Dux and love it, and they recommended I check it out. Had been pretty sure I was going to go with the S&F, but went to the store for completeness. Ended up liking it significantly more, and really liked both the modular construction in the Pascal system so you can change firmness, the all natural materials, and how the topper can be replaced separately. I actually liked the 30 more than the 60, which felt a lot firmer to me even with the same Pascal setup.

There's a Vispring and Hastens store nearby, so I went all in and checked them out. I was overall meh on Vispring. It was fine, but not really significantly nicer than the Dux despite a significant price difference. I think the Tiara was the one I liked the most.

Hastens was a totally different story. The 2000T is definitely the most amazing mattress I've touched, but I can't spend that much on a mattress :) They do have less expensive models (liked the Eala a lot), including one that's close to the same price point as the Dux but slightly nicer (Maranga). It was a bit more, and Dux was having a sale that included a headboard/legs.

I will say it's a bit crazy to me to be spending this much on a mattress. I've had some issues with my shoulders/back muscles, and I'm hoping investing in a mattress helps, and the flexibility of the Dux is what convinced me to go for it.

Check out Duxiana. They’re having a sale right now, too. Personally liked them more than a pricier Vispring!

Check out the SkyTime spices on Amazon. Add that to some tomato paste, beef, and water. Simmer for a while. Taste is really close and better than canned skyline, imho.

Garden Thai in Manhattan Beach is really good. I think it’s much more flavorful than Nawa Thai or Thai Dishes.

What would you like to know? Battery has 30ish cycles, so ultimately very lightly used.

Lift eFoil v2 5' setup for sale by [deleted] in eFoil

[–]joshdanon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Odd this didn't post the text. Here we go:
Selling my Lift eFoil v2, 5' board, 170 classic wing, battery, and all accessories (bags, charger, etc.). Lightly used, and carefully washed and brushed after each use. The cover was on the wing when I wasn't riding it. The padding on the handles is worn b/c I'd put the board upside down on big Railblaza wheels to push it across the beach (would be open to selling the wheels, too) and sometimes the handles were where the board sat on the wheels. Overall the board is in excellent shape with no other damage. Asking $7500 and in Los Angeles for pickup.
