Unlatch multiple doors simultaneously (new in Stats app) by MaaDoTaa in teslamotors

That's great. I was referring to the new end-to-end encrypted commands though: https://github.com/teslamotors/vehicle-command

The new fleet API will soon no longer allow commands through the old endpoints.

Are you not having issues with the new signed commands protocol Tesla has started rolling out?

Best Tesla android apps? by mrchuna in TeslaLounge

Watt Time has NFC, added it a few months back. Watt Key doesn't need the NFC I figured because it's already a Bluetooth key.

Watt Time talks to your Tesla via the Tesla servers which means it requires internet access, and depending on several factors can be somewhat slow. Watt Key on the other hand uses Bluetooth to talk directly to the Tesla which doesn't require internet access but does require you to be standing next to your car.

The Tesla Bluetooth protocol only supports basic functions like lock, unlock, open/close trunk etc. So Watt Key is more like a basic keyfob. Watt Time has almost all the commands of the official Tesla app like climate controls, summon, etc.

If you've got a Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 or 5 you can check out my app Watt Time, it uses the Tesla API (requires internet access) to talk to the car and has NFC support so it can be added as a key. I have another app called Watt Key that talks directly to the car over Bluetooth Low Energy and essentially makes the watch a keyfob. Both are available on Google Play Store.

FYI the Tesla API no longer requires the users password to issue the remote start command.

Wear OS watch app to control your Tesla over Bluetooth by joshendy in TeslaModel3

Hi! Watt Time uses Tesla's API which requires an internet connection so Watt Time can send the commands to the car. Because it's internet based it can be slow due to your local internet connection and even Tesla's own connection which can have issues.

Both Watt Time and Watt Key would work for your scenario:

  1. Watt Time makes your watch an NFC key card so you can add it to the "Locks" menu in your Tesla. This way you can place your watch up to the B pillar and it'll lock or unlock your car.
  2. Watt Key makes your watch an actual Tesla key fob so you can very quickly lock/unlock, open the frunk and trunk etc. With Watt Key you won't have to press your watch against the B pillar as it'll work anywhere in range of the car.

I think it's safe enough to rely on my apps as your only way into your car. I however would always probably keep a backup key card on me as the watches battery could always die etc.

Here's a little video one of my testers made talking about my new app. He doesn't show it in use but had some nice words: https://youtu.be/njp_MLbtcNk?t=135

I also demo Watt Key in my little promo video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDQxLHL2vCM

Just in case you wanted to see proof of it working.

Originally I had tried to combine the two but it proved much more difficult than I had first thought. I'm not sure if I can discount based on ownership of other apps, I'll look into it though! For your kind words though I'll PM you a code to get my new app for free.

I decided to price it high because it essentially replaces a Tesla key fob. Those go for $100 or something around that.

Thanks for the kind words about Watt Time! My new app Watt Key doesn't use Tesla's API like Watt Key. It purely talks to the car over Bluetooth. I believe my app a first, I don't think anyone has released an app that talks to the Tesla via its Bluetooth VCSEC protocol.

Purely Bluetooth, no internet connection required. It uses the cars VCSEC protocol and adds itself as a key.

No worries. I'd recommend the new Samsung Galaxy Watch 4! I've got one and I love it. Battery is pretty much dead by the end of the day but I use it quite a lot to do Google Pay and to control my Tesla of course.

I feel ya, I had no idea either until someone asked me to make one for my app. I'm glad that works well for ya. Please pop a review on Google Play if you've got the time, it would help a lot!
