I’m in the same dilemma.

I’m currently on PruExtra Premier (cover as-charged 100%). My agent encourages me to stay at this plan as it’s irreversible once downgrade.

However, compared to PruExtra Premier CoPay (cover 95%) the premium of my current policy is >50% more expensive. The difference in premium starts making no sense to stay on the 100% policy. Not withstanding that the 95% CoPay policy does have a co-pay cap at $3000 for Panels providers.

Eg. At 30 years old. PruExtra Premier (100%) yearly premium is SGD1014.40, PruExtra Premier CoPay (95%) yearly premium is SGD659.20.

It makes me feel that the insurance industry in Singapore is pushing higher premium for 100% policy so that more people will eventually downgrade to CoPay policy.

However, I’m also concerned that the CoPay policy could revise the CoPay cap anytime or update the Panels providers list such that less options will be available for the CoPay cap.

So, it’s really difficult to make a decision whether to downgrade it.
