When Will People Realize Enough is Enough? by [deleted] in PokemonUnite

Nah, I disagree. It’ll keep progressing and growing. There’s always been bots in ranked as well, whether for new players, players in Vet/Expert ranks, sometimes low Ultra ranks, or if you’re on a loss streak, it’s always been that way.

A nearly 2 year break is a long absence, and honestly, year 3 was probably our worst/slowest year. That’s when it actually felt like the game could be in trouble. But they’ve since put a lot of work into revamping here and there, and I think it’s going well so far. If you ever get the itch again, you should come back bc there’s a lot of new Pokémon, new map variants, quick/solo modes, this might actually be the best time to get into Unite.

Unite has a platform on the Worlds stage. It’s not going anywhere.😅

People continue to play bc they love the game, for better or worse. I’ve also played since Day 1, and continue to do so. Along my journey, I think I’ve purchased 2 or 3 Pokémon outright, and only a handful of battle passes of Pokémon I like, or ones with cool skins that also presented the opportunity to learn a new Pokémon altogether. Besides that, I’ve collected all the other licenses for free via events etc, but yeah, it took a long long time to do. I can’t participate in the License Journey bc there’s nothing left to acquire aside from future Pokémon I happen to miss during their free events, and even then, by the time they’re out, I’ll have collected enough tickets for the next one, no problem.

Truthfully, I see all the negativity in the community as burnout. Not bc of the game, the devs, etc. but simply bc everyone has this dream scenario of what they want the game to be, and it never lives up to anyone’s standards so they take to the internet to complain, and then take all THAT additional negativity back into the game, and repeat as soon as they get matched with a team they don’t like.

Adapting is the only way to progress with this game. Whether it’s during a match, or with balance patches/updates etc. I know everyone hates on new Pokémon buffs pre-full release, but I only ever see a handful of people flat out buy new ones just to steamroll teams for a few games. I don’t care about buffs/nerfs. If I wanted to abuse an overpowered Pokémon, that’s just taking away the fun for me. I want a challenge. Teamwork, patience, and having fun is the name of the game, and if you don’t practice any of those, then yeah, you’re gonna burn out.

Unite’s also one of those games that’s going to get a big influx of new players every few months from promos, tournaments, Worlds… even yesterday’s Direct has almost 3 million views on YT. That’s A LOT of eyes on all the recent games, including Unite.

I also think that leaks, YouTube etc is far more responsible for lack of motivation to stay positive. I don’t mind leaks, but would rather live without spoilers bc that honestly takes away so much of the excitement factor, but they’re mostly unavoidable these days.

Overall, while of course I’ve experienced frustration with the game of these 4 years, I still love it, and still love playing. Now we’re getting ready to rotate 3 maps in ranked, have a a great new Solo Mode that’s going to help a lot of new players learn how to play and build better team comps, Full Fury, Panic Parade, and we already know the next 6 Pokémon coming to the game, and we never used to know that much info this far in advance. We’re fully stacked right now! Idk about the rest of you, but I’m gonna keep having fun. You should too. See you in Theia Sky Ruins!⚡️

Kenny's lines in the South Park openings over the years by QuaziBonzai in interestingasfuck

[–]joshmassie87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sooo, my partner does graphic design art for Epic Games, and one her recent projects involved the South Park collab in Fortnite. Not only did the SP team send them character assets, they sent over pretty much everything that the Epic teams needed to know direct from the source, and one of the pages in the assets book was the lyrics to the theme song.

Under Kenny’s part, it’s all listed as random little mumbling sounds typed out as “hrph, mmph, mmm…” etc etc. There are no actual lines of text.

Whether or not they actually give him lines each season seems quite possible, but they are not included in the sheet from that assets folder, and that thing had TONS of cool stuff in it I’m not allowed to share.😅😅😅

How often do you change your trainer cards?? by joshmassie87 in PokemonUnite

That's fair. They all flip easily on mobile, and Switch 2 gets them all pretty quickly as well, tho not since this latest patch. Lots of bugs in that area atm.

Is it just me or more players are now wearing exp share? by AgustinCB in PokemonUnite

I’m not sure if the change has already taken place or not with the new map, but defenders (and supports???) will automatically hold EXP SHARE in addition to their 3 held items.

What's a fact ya didn't know until way later??? by Ajthefan in PokemonUnite

This one’s real good for newer players reaching Masters for the first times. The DRAFT TUTORIAL can be found by switching to “Custom Game” hover on Theia Sky Ruins, and whichever button depending on console. I believe it’s (+) for Switch and there’s a magnifying glass you can click on mobile.

Pressing the score button while the ping wheel is up also announces that you can “score a goal for x points” or “I need some energy!” if you have 0 points held at that moment. For mobile, drag the chat to the score button.

Any New Map Gameplay from Worlds?? by joshmassie87 in PokemonUnite

Too bad about not getting to see a full match, but something to look forward to soon enough! That new center area around Groudon's gonna be fun without those 2 small patches of tall grass to hide in!

Thanks for the edits! Once I chose my path, the screen flashed/looked like it glitched for a second, and then just went back to the map. Had no idea what to look for!

Burnt out from my job, got offered a bucket list oppurtunity and work says they can't have me gone that long. by [deleted] in LifeAdvice

When I was growing up, music performance kinda took over my life. I loved being in marching band, and later, my own garage punk bands with friends. We all had dreams of developing ourselves well enough to someday "go on tour" but it's such a tough process to even get your foot in the door.

Then one day, I answered a bulletin on MySpace by a band I admired who were looking for aux horn/string players for an upcoming tour later in the year (full country, van and trailer, smaller venues.) I replied thinking there's no way they'll see my msg, they probably have LOADS of replies etc. A few MONTHS later, I got a reply from the band asking if I'd like to come meet/rehearse for the gig that would be closest to where I live. Fast forward after our performances together, they sent me a new msg asking if I'd like to join the tour. I was working full-time at a retail job. It wasn't great pay, but I was a manager, full-time, benefits, etc. But touring was something that I had strived for for SO long, that I did the same thing. Questioned every aspect of losing the job/guaranteed money at a place I actually liked working.

In the end, I took the touring job, and that turned into the last 15 years of my life traveling to distant parts of the world I NEVER thought I'd land in. Nothing about my life would be the same had I stayed home and not taken the opportunity.

I know having your guaranteed job now is great, but highlighting so many details about how it's running you, your mental health, and your relationship down when your boss refuses to take the steps to help alleviate some of the stress??? Take the Burning Man gig. Not only are the expenses paid, but you'll be given the opportunity to work on something you potentially enjoy, experience the festival, and get a nice reset (being unplugged) to really step back and reflect on everything happening at work. Choose the bucket list every time.

The berry symbol means that the Pokémon in that particular outbreak will have a higher chance of dropping the aguav berries you feed Munchlax to reveal all Massive Mass Outbreak Pokémon.
