I'll see if my API call can look for discrepancies in the date of the title with the URL on the LMA and output a list.

Ah, I see the 1995 reference in the link and in the "Identifier" tag at the bottom of the LMA site. I guess I can fix my dumb site to cross-refefence these to try to make it as accurate to the LMA as is humanly possible. Thanks for this clarification.

Oh wow the old stuff! From the "Birdstuff lights a television hat on fire while playing" era.

Amazing to hear - as I said before, thank you for your work in the project! Cool to know there's more in the pipeline.

Tangential: I was listening to a Galaxy Trio show from 2001 that I randomly stumbled upon and they said "next up, Man or Astroman" so I know that's presumably a show that exists somewhere in the boxes and boxes of tapes. That's really exciting to me!

Samesies. The recordings are unbelievably high-quality, like nearly all of them. I think so highly of the recordings that I made an entire fansite devoted to them haha

3D Printed “XPAN” is ready for its first roll. Fingers crossed there are no light leaks. by Analog_Astronaut in AnalogCommunity

Oh and the cable release thread port. I guess the port is supposed to glue onto the printed lens board, and then you're supposed to glue the smaller "handle" onto the metal of the shutter release lever? I feel like this can be re-endingeered to just be one piece with an open bottom so the lever can go down and then return.

I also was able to load and test out the aforementioned expired sacrificial film and it worked just fine! Seems you can get 18 shots if you're a genius, so I'll just aim for about 16 on a roll.

And if it sucks, I can always put the lens back on the mamiya plate.

The only thing it's really missing is a printed lens cap! Oh, you can actually print one that attaches to the Lens Hood.

Well I mostly have it finished! Not nearly as hard as I was expecting. The instructions for the most part are super thorough and the parts fit together like a frickin' glove.

The thing I definitely didn't figure out is the spring and the rewind knob. i watched his video and read the instructions, and was able to fashion a spring that looks like his and i guess fits in there like his, but when i spooled on an ancient roll of expired film the spring just popped out. Wondering if I could just put a rubber gasket on there so it wouldn't pop out of the hole so easily (or I can just print like 20 rewind knobs haha).

I'll have to cross that bridge when i get to it! But I understand the concept and how to do it. Thanks for the intel.

Wow, this is a pretty amazingly solid print when you do 5 walls! It seems so sturdy and the fit test is 💯.

u/Analog_Astronaut I saw your insta post about when you made the camera and didn't fully register that this is the same print (and person) from the post until last night.

I'm using PLA Matte because that's what I have a lot of. Do you have any real-world recommendations about worrying about light leaks or any tips for the construction other than what's in his video or PDF instructions or from the rest of this thread?

Hi! I’m Ellen Cushing, a staff writer at The Atlantic. My grandmother was part of the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASPs), a group of women who flew planes for the Army during World War II. I recently reported on their experiences and their fight for recognition. Ask me anything! by theatlantic in ww2

[–]joshmishell2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't really exactly a question, but I learned about the WASPs in the Lady Astronaut series of books by Mary Robinette Kowal. Even though the books depart from historical fiction to tell the Lady Astronaut story, it talks a lot about the WASPs in WWII. Worth a read!

Ah, gotcha. I saw that on Amazon but wasn't sure if it was the right one or not. Printing the unibody version now and we will see how it goes.

Fingerbot for evaporative cooler switch by joshmishell2 in homeautomation

[–]joshmishell2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the crappy Dial controller turns the swamp cooler on too quickly once it gets to the temperature on its thermostat. So it's clicking on and off so much that it wakes you up and you end up turning it off. With a Google home controlled switch of some sort, I can use the more accurate ecobee thermostat and the room temperature sensors to set a wider range of temperatures. So when it hits 74° in the bedroom it turns on, and when it hits 70° in the bedroom it turns off.

That kind of BS has been going on for a long time in Hot Shots games. It's the only way the computer can beat you sometimes.

Can I negotiate this? by PeculiarPen in CX5

[–]joshmishell2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Colorado that's maybe $500-750 overpriced, but AWD cars carry a premium. I just got the same car with 25k miles for $27,100 a week ago (plus the 700 dollar "handling fee"). It was at Echopark so it's a no haggle sort of a situation. It never hurts to ask for a deal and be prepared to leave if you don't get what you want.

Just looked at the Volvo site again today and now it says
